Job Title: Consultant Agronomist - Digital Farming & AI

Role Overview

We at HCLTech are seeking an experienced Agronomist with expertise in Digital Farming, Precision Agriculture, and AI-driven agricultural solutions. The role will focus on translating agronomic knowledge into scalable digital products, data-driven insights, and AI-enabled farming interventions that improve crop productivity, sustainability, and farm profitability.

Key Responsibilities
Provide agronomic expertise to support digital farming and precision agriculture initiatives.
Design and implement AI/ML-driven solutions for crop monitoring, yield prediction, pest and disease management, and farm optimization.
Analyze agronomic, weather, soil, satellite, and IoT data to generate actionable farming recommendations.
Collaborate with data scientists, product teams, and technology partners to develop and validate digital agriculture solutions.
Engage with farmers, agribusinesses, and agricultural stakeholders to assess needs and drive adoption of digital farming technologies.
Support field trials, pilot programs, and validation of AI-based agronomic models.




Develop best practices, advisory frameworks, and sustainability-focused farming recommendations.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Crop Science, or related field.
8 years of agronomy experience with exposure to digital agriculture, precision farming, or agri-tech solutions.
Solid understanding of crop production systems, soil health, irrigation, and crop protection.
Experience working with farm management platforms, remote sensing, GIS, IoT, drones, or agricultural data analytics.
Knowledge of AI/ML applications in agriculture and data-driven decision-making.
Excellent stakeholder management and consulting skills.

Preferred Skills
Experience with satellite imagery, geospatial analytics, and predictive agronomy.
Exposure to sustainability, carbon farming, regenerative agriculture, or climate-smart agriculture programs.
Consulting experience supporting agribusiness, seed, crop protection, or agricultural technology organizations.
