As a Commis Chef, you will assist in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of a variety of dishes to the highest standards. Working as part of a dynamic kitchen team, you will contribute to the smooth operation of the culinary department, ensuring guest satisfaction and adherence to health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation and Cooking:
Assist in the preparation of ingredients and dishes under the supervision of senior chefs.
Ensure dishes are prepared according to the recipes and standards set by the head chef.
Maintain consistency in taste, presentation, and quality.
Hygiene and Safety:
Follow all health and safety regulations in the kitchen.
Ensure that workstations and kitchen equipment are cleaned and maintained.
Adhere to food hygiene and storage practices.
Support Senior Chefs:
Assist the Executive Chef and other senior chefs in daily operations.
Take on tasks such as chopping, peeling, marinating, and seasoning.
Learn current recipes and techniques as guided by senior chefs.
Inventory and Supplies:
Assist in checking stock levels and informing senior staff of shortages.
Help with the proper storage and labelling of ingredients.
Teamwork and Communication:
Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
Qualifications and Skills
Educational Background: Diploma or certificate in culinary arts or a related field.
Experience: Previous experience as a Commis Chef or trainee in a professional kitchen (preferred).
