We are seeking an experienced

Tax Manager – Form 990

to lead the preparation and review of U.S.

Exempt Organization (EO)

tax returns for nonprofit organizations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with

IRS Form 990

, including Federal and State compliance, review of complex tax engagements, client management, and mentoring teams. The role requires robust technical knowledge of U.S. nonprofit taxation, governance reporting, and exempt organization compliance.

Key Responsibilities
Manage the preparation and review of

IRS Form 990, 990-EZ, 990-PF, and related schedules

.
Review Federal and State tax filings for nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations.
Ensure compliance with IRS regulations, filing requirements, and reporting deadlines.
Review financial statements, trial balances, and supporting schedules for tax reporting.
Review governance disclosures, executive compensation reporting, and public support tests where applicable.
Provide technical guidance on exempt organization tax matters and nonprofit compliance.
Manage multiple client engagements while ensuring timely delivery and quality standards.
Coordinate with U.S.



onshore teams and clients to resolve technical tax issues.
Perform technical tax research and document conclusions on complex tax matters.
Review workpapers, provide constructive feedback, and mentor junior team members.
Identify process improvements and support automation and standardization initiatives.
Participate in client meetings and contribute to practice development.

Required Skills & Qualifications
5+ years of experience in

U.S.

Exempt

Organization (EO) Tax

.
Robust experience reviewing

Form 990

,

990-EZ

, and

990-PF returns.
Solid understanding of nonprofit taxation, tax-exempt organizations, and IRS filing requirements.
Experience with Federal and State nonprofit tax compliance.
Hands-on experience with tax software such as

CCH Axcess Tax

,

CCH ProSystem fx Tax

,

GoSystem RS

, or similar.
Solid analytical, review, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Proven experience managing teams and reviewing complex tax engagements.
