The Data Duck | Mumbai (Hybrid) | 3-month Internship
Curious about how good products actually get designed — not just how they look, but how they work
The Data Duck is a strategy, design, and AI consultancy based in Mumbai, working with founders and businesses across financial services, B2B, infra, and consumer sectors. As part of our growing design and product work, we're looking for a UI/UX Intern who wants to learn user-centered design by actually doing it — on real products, with real users in mind.
This isn't a design us a pretty screen internship. You'll be involved in the thinking behind the screens: how users move through a product, where they get stuck, and how valuable design solves that.
What you'll be doing:
- Assisting with wireframes, user flows, and mockups for client digital products — web and mobile
- Supporting user research efforts: helping structure interviews, synthesizing findings, and pulling out insights that inform design decisions
- Translating research and requirements into low-fidelity and high-fidelity designs in Figma
- Helping build and maintain design systems and component libraries for consistency across products
- Participating in design reviews and critique sessions — giving and receiving feedback like a working designer does
- Collaborating with strategy and (where relevant) engineering counterparts to make sure designs are both desirable and buildable
What we're looking for:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree/diploma in design (UI/UX, HCI, visual communication, or related), or equivalent self-taught experience with a strong portfolio
- Familiarity with Figma is a must; exposure to prototyping and basic user research methods is a plus
- A genuine interest in how people use products — not just how products look
- Comfortable presenting and explaining your design decisions, not just producing screens
- Based in or able to commute to Mumbai for the hybrid schedule
Why intern with us:
You'll get exposure to the full arc of product design — research, flows, prototyping, and testing — on live client work, mentored by people who've actually shipped products. It's a steep learning curve, but a genuinely fun one, and strong performers are first in line when we're hiring for full-time design/product roles.
How to apply:
Send your CV and portfolio (Figma links welcome) to [HIDDEN TEXT] with the subject line UI/UX Intern. Include one product you use often and one thing you'd redesign about it — we love that kind of thinking.
