**Associate - Roads** is responsible for planning, managing, and delivering **UK Local Government** projects to the required technical, quality, cost, and programme standards. The role ensures designs are robust, compliant with UK standards and legislation, and delivered through effective leadership of a multidisciplinary team in GCC India. **Project Leadership & Delivery** + Lead the day-to-day project management and technical delivery of a portfolio of UK Local Government schemes from GCC India. + Act as a technical specialist, developing and applying advanced engineering approaches to complex and unique design challenges. + Drive innovation in design methods, digital tools, and delivery processes. + Ensure projects meet the agreed budget, programme, and technical standards and remain compliant with QA, CDM, Sustainability, and HSE obligations. + Manage project risks, technical issues, and interface challenges, ensuring timely and cost-effective resolution. **Team & People Management** + Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of up to 15 technical staff across varying experience levels. + Provide technical guidance, coaching, and direction to support the professional development of early career professionals. + Manage multiple commissions and support resource planning, workload forecasting, and allocation of tasks to maintain delivery efficiency. + Foster a positive team culture and encourage continuous improvement, collaboration, and high technical standards. **Client Engagement & Business Support** + Engage in regular liaison with internal UK clients and stakeholders to ensure clarity of expectations and progress. + Contribute to fee proposals, bid preparation, project scoping, and business development activities. + Support recruitment activities where required. + Assist the Discipline Head with preparation of periodic reports including project performance, utilisation forecasts, and team workload. **Process, Quality,
and Operational Excellence** + Ensure adherence to internal governance processes, quality assurance procedures, and design standards. + Promote Lean delivery principles, contributing to efficiency improvements and reduction of process waste. + Maintain strong control of project finances, risks, and change management. + Champion best practice in document control, project reporting, and communication across the team. **Key Competencies / Skills** **Essential** + Working experience on UK Highways or Local Government infrastructure design. + Robust technical understanding of relevant UK standards, design guidance, and legislation. + Ability to direct and check work produced using key design software such as Civil 3D and OpenRoads. + Proven leadership skills with experience managing teams and contributing to operational management of a group of up to 15 staff. + Strong experience in project and resource management. + Understanding of construction processes, buildability, and construction management principles. + Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills. + Demonstrated ability to manage multiple live projects simultaneously. + Strong organisational skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively. **Qualifications & Experience** + Master's degree in Highway or Transportation Engineering or related field. + Over **15 years of** Highway Engineering experience with significant leadership responsibilities. + Strong track record of managing teams or delivering complex, high-profile Highways/ Roads projects in consultancy. + Professionally qualified with Chartered status/ CEng from a recognised professional institute, or currently in the process of obtaining it. **BGV:** + Employment with WSP India is subject to the successful completion of a background verification ("BGV") check conducted by a third-party agency appointed by WSP India. + Candidates are advised to ensure that all information provided during the recruitment process - including documents uploaded - is accurate and complete, both to WSP India and its BGV partner".
