In the fenestration industry, a CNC Programmer and Operator (often a combined role in smaller fabrication

units) is responsible for translating technical window and door designs into machine-readable code and

managing the high-precision cutting, drilling, and milling of aluminum profiles.

Key Responsibilities

* CNC Programming: Develop and write programs using G-code and M-code or CAD/CAM software

to control machining centers.

* Design Translation: Interpret architectural blueprints and shop drawings to determine exact

machining requirements, such as drainage holes, lock cut-outs, and hinge positions.

* Machine Setup: Install and align specialized cutting tools, jigs, and fixtures for specific profile

systems.

* Profile Fabrication: Operate multi-axis CNC machines to perform high-precision cutting, routing,

and drilling of aluminum profiles.

* Quality Inspection:



Conduct First Article Inspections and use precision tools like vernier

calipers and micrometers to verify parts meet strict tolerance levels.

* Routine Maintenance: Perform daily cleaning, lubrication, and basic troubleshooting of CNC

equipment to prevent downtime.

Core Skills & Software

* Software Proficiency: Expertise in CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, or AlphaCAM)

and specialized fenestration ERPs like DW-ERP or Maestro CNC.

* Technical Knowledge: Understanding of different aluminum alloys or uPVC properties and their

respective machining speeds and feeds.

* Mathematical Proficiency: Solid grasp of geometry and trigonometry for calculating tool paths
