About The Role

As a (Senior) Data and Solution Engineer within the Data Platforms Engineering department of the Group Data Services (GDS) organization, you will participate in or lead the engineering of solutions on Swiss Re's Palantir Foundry instance.

This senior role calls for a unique combination of data engineering expertise, full-stack application development skills, architectural design knowledge, and solid engineering leadership. You will be responsible for designing and steering solutions that support Swiss Re's broader data transformation objectives.

Key Responsibilities

- Spearhead the development of complex data engineering solutions, establishing best practices and driving clarity in implementation.
- Lead the incremental development and continuous evolution of existing solutions.
- Enhance the prescriptive nature of our solutions, aligned with current advancements in data analytics, distributed computing, and machine learning.
- Mentor team members and nurture talent to build a pipeline of future leaders in data engineering and solution architecture.
- Ensure seamless integration of projects and teams onto the Stargate platform, including setup, staffing, training, and support.




- Collaborate with senior business stakeholders to identify and prioritize data opportunities and translate them into scalable data solutions and analytics applications.
- Conduct occasional reviews to ensure compliance with technical standards and guidelines.

About You

- Extensive experience in data engineering and solution design, with a minimum of 5 years of increasing responsibility.
- Proven leadership in managing technical teams and delivering complex projects, especially involving AI/ML technologies to enhance business outcomes.
- Advanced technical expertise in Python, Spark, SQL, or similar languages; experience with Palantir Foundry is highly desirable.
- Strong familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, and a keen interest in AI/ML and LLMs.
- Demonstrated strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with experience steering complex initiatives in a multinational environment.
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience in the insurance or financial services sector is a plus.
