About the Opportunity
A tertiary-care healthcare provider operating in the Acute & Specialty Care – Gastroenterology and Hepatology sector, delivering comprehensive inpatient and outpatient GI services across South India. The role is based in Salem, Tamil Nadu and requires full on-site clinical practice in a busy tertiary/secondary hospital environment focused on endoscopy, hepatology, and multidisciplinary patient care.

Role & Responsibilities

- Provide consultant-level inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology care, including diagnosis, treatment planning, and longitudinal follow-up for complex GI and liver conditions.

- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures independently (upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy) and lead advanced procedures (ERCP/EUS) as per training and credentialing.

- Manage acute GI emergencies—variceal hemorrhage, severe pancreatitis, GI bleeding—and coordinate with critical care and surgery teams for escalation.

- Conduct liver disease management including cirrhosis care, ascites management, paracentesis, and interpretation of liver biopsy results; participate in MDTs for hepatology cases.

- Document clinical encounters and procedural logs; maintain high standards for infection control, patient safety and endoscopy quality metrics (cecal intubation, adenoma detection, complication rates).

- Support clinical governance: mentor junior doctors, contribute to departmental protocols,



and participate in continuous medical education and local quality-improvement initiatives.

Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have

- DM Gastroenterology or DrNB Gastroenterology (or equivalent super-specialty qualification)

- Registered with the Tamil Nadu Medical Council (or valid Indian medical registration)

- Proven independent competence in diagnostic upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy with documented procedural log

- Experience managing acute GI emergencies and advanced hepatology care (ascites management, variceal bleed)

- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification

- Strong familiarity with endoscopy quality metrics, infection prevention, and procedural safety protocols

Preferred

- Hands-on experience with ERCP and Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)

- Prior consultant experience in a tertiary-care hospital and multidisciplinary team exposure

- Experience in teaching, clinical research or publications in gastroenterology/hepatology
