About the Role:
We are looking for a senior Business Analyst with strong Retail domain depth who can operate as a functional consultant - not only documenting requirements, but bringing structure to ambiguous, early-stage problems and shaping solutions. The role sits within the Retail Business Unit and is deployed across multiple customer accounts, splitting time between active delivery projects and pre-sales / RFQ support. This means frequent context-switching, quick ramp-up on unfamiliar clients, and comfort producing high-quality functional artifacts under proposal timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Business Analysis Functional Consulting
- Work with client stakeholders to understand business problems, current-state processes, pain points, and future-state needs.
- Translate business needs into functional requirements, user stories, process flows, use cases, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications.
- Facilitate requirements workshops, stakeholder interviews, process walkthroughs, and solution validation sessions.
- Analyze current-state and to-be processes; identify gaps, business rules, exception scenarios, dependencies, assumptions, and improvement opportunities.
- Support functional decision-making by preparing options, recommendations, and trade-off analysis.
Pre-Sales / RFQ / Proposal Support
- Analyze RFP/RFQ documents to identify business objectives, functional scope, ambiguities, assumptions, risks, and dependencies.
- Produce proposal-ready functional artifacts: scope documents, business process views, capability maps, functional WBS inputs, estimation assumptions, and clarification questions.
- Contribute to solution narratives, POVs, demo storyboards, and prototypes for Retail proposals, working with architects, delivery managers, and practice teams.
- Participate in client clarification calls and proposal presentations.
Project Delivery
- Act as the functional anchor across discovery, requirements, design, build, testing, and implementation.
- Support backlog creation, grooming, prioritization, sprint planning, and acceptance criteria definition; work with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, developers, QA, and architects.
- Review functional designs, test scenarios, and UAT scripts from a business perspective; support change requests and impact analysis; maintain requirements traceability end to end.
Domain Capability Development
- Contribute to reusable Retail assets - process maps, templates, capability models, proposal accelerators, and use-case libraries.
- Mentor junior BAs and help raise BA delivery quality across the Retail BU.
Skills Experience
Must-have
- 8-12 years as a Business Analyst, with 5+ years in Retail domain / Retail IT transformation.
- Breadth across adjacent Retail areas: store operations, inventory and replenishment, sourcing, pricing and promotions, order management, warehouse management / supply chain.
- Strong requirements elicitation, analysis, and documentation - BRDs, FRDs, user stories, process flows, use cases, acceptance criteria.
- Current-state / future-state process mapping, and the ability to identify business rules, exception scenarios, workflow states, data dependencies,
and integration touchpoints.
- Proven contribution to both delivery projects and pre-sales / RFP activity.
- Experience in an IT services environment working across multiple accounts, with the maturity to context-switch and ramp up quickly.
- Experience with Agile and/or hybrid delivery models.
- Strong client-facing communication, and the consulting instinct to shape solutions rather than only capture requirements.
Strongly preferred
- Familiarity with enterprise Retail platforms - e.g. Oracle Retail, Blue Yonder, SAP Retail, Manhattan, PIM / MDM, OMS, WMS, or merchandising systems.
- Experience with large retailers, grocers, department / specialty retailers, QSR, or CPG / Retail supply chain clients.
- Comfort with requirements, diagramming, and collaboration tooling (e.g. Jira / Azure DevOps, Confluence / SharePoint, Lucidchart / Miro / Visio).
Nice-to-have
- Breadth into POS / checkout, e-commerce / omnichannel, or customer loyalty / CRM.
- Exposure to AI-assisted business processes, exception management, workflow automation, or analytics-driven recommendations.
- Experience in regulated-category retail (e.g. alcohol, pharmacy) where compliance shapes functional rules.
- Wireframing (e.g. Figma), SQL basics / data-analysis exposure, and a functional understanding of APIs and enterprise integrations.
- CBAP, CSPO / PSPO, Secure, or Agile BA certifications; MBA or Retail domain certifications.
