Job Summary
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and monitor all welding activities at project sites.
- Ensure welding is performed as per approved WPS, PQR, WPQ, client specifications, and applicable codes.
- Coordinate with construction, QA/QC, planning, and client representatives for smooth project execution.
- Review engineering drawings, isometric drawings, GA drawings, and welding documents before execution.
- Ensure proper fit-up, alignment, dimensional control, and welding sequence during erection.
- Coordinate NDT activities such as RT, UT, PT, MT, and hydrostatic testing.
- Monitor welding consumables, electrode storage, baking, and issue control.
- Coordinate PWHT (Post Weld Heat Treatment) activities and ensure compliance with applicable procedures.
- Resolve welding-related issues and support root cause analysis for weld failures and repairs.
- Attend client inspections, third-party inspections (TPI), and statutory inspections.
- Prepare daily progress reports, welding logs, weld maps, and site documentation.
- Ensure compliance with project quality plans, ITPs, and customer specifications.
- Maintain site safety standards and ensure adherence to Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems,
hot work permits, and company EHS policies.
- Coordinate subcontractors and ensure work quality and productivity.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering, or equivalent.
Experience
- 6 - 12 years of experience in welding supervision/site execution.
- Experience in heavy engineering, fabrication, refinery, petrochemical, fertilizer, power plant, or EPC projects.
- Experience in erection of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, boilers, reactors, columns, and piping systems
Technical Skills
- Solid knowledge of:
- ASME Section VIII
- ASME Section IX
- API Codes (where applicable)
- IBR requirements
- Knowledge of:
- WPS
- PQR
- WPQ
- Weld Maps
- ITP
- PWHT
- NDT techniques (RT, UT, PT, MT)
- Familiarity with welding processes:
- SMAW
- GTAW
- FCAW
- SAW
- GMAW
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and P&IDs.;
- Knowledge of welding consumables, distortion control, fit-up, and alignment.
- Working knowledge of MS Office; ERP/SAP exposure is preferred.
