Qualifications and Requirements:

- DMLT, BSc, or any relevant diploma/degree in Life Sciences or related fields.
- Experience in biospecimen collection, processing, and storage preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret instructions in English.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Good proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Job Summary:
The Biobank Technician is responsible for handling, processing, and managing biospecimen samples in accordance with established protocols and quality standards. The role involves maintaining sample integrity, accurate documentation, and supporting biobank operations while ensuring compliance with ethical and regulatory guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Sample Collection and Processing

- Obtain informed consent from donors and collect biospecimens (blood, tissue, saliva, etc.).
- Receive, label, process, and store biospecimens following SOPs and Work Instructions.




- Perform aliquoting and cryopreservation using automated or manual methods.
- Manage sample retrieval, destruction, and shipment as per regulatory requirements.

2. Storage and Inventory Management

- Maintain proper storage conditions for biospecimens (ultra-low freezers, liquid nitrogen systems).
- Update and manage sample inventories using LIMS or other biobank management software.
- Monitor storage conditions, perform regular audits, and maintain records.

3. Quality Assurance and Compliance

- Conduct quality checks on incoming samples and data to ensure integrity.
- Ensure adherence to biosafety, biosecurity, and ethical guidelines.
- Follow internal SOPs and maintain accurate chain-of-custody records.

4. Data Management

- Accurately record all sample handling activities in LIMS or other databases.
- Support data verification, retrieval, and reporting for research purposes.

5. Equipment Maintenance

- Perform routine maintenance and monitoring of laboratory and storage equipment.
- Troubleshoot issues and coordinate repairs or replacements as needed.
