Job Summary

The Deputy Team Lead Urban Planner assists the Team Lead in planning, managing, and delivering urban planning and development projects. The role involves technical leadership, project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and ensuring compliance with applicable planning regulations and project requirements. The incumbent supports multidisciplinary teams in preparing master plans, regional plans, smart city initiatives, transit-oriented developments, and urban infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management

- Support the Team Lead in project planning, execution, monitoring, and successful delivery.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, transport planners, engineers, GIS specialists, economists, and environmental experts.
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, deliverables, and quality standards.
- Assist in preparing project reports, presentations, and client submissions.

Technical Responsibilities

- Prepare and review:
- Master Plans
- Development Plans
- Regional Plans
- Local Area Plans
- Urban Renewal Plans
- Smart City proposals
- Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) plans

- Conduct land use analysis, demographic studies, and urban growth assessments.
- Review planning standards, zoning regulations, and development control regulations.
- Guide preparation of GIS-based spatial analyses and planning databases.

Stakeholder Coordination

- Coordinate with government departments, urban local bodies,



development authorities, and clients.
- Participate in stakeholder consultations, workshops, and public engagement activities.
- Support client relationship management and project communications.

Team Leadership

- Supervise junior planners and consultants.
- Review technical outputs prepared by team members.
- Mentor and develop planning staff.
- Allocate tasks and monitor team performance.

Documentation & Reporting

- Prepare technical reports and planning documents.
- Ensure compliance with national, state, and local planning regulations.
- Maintain project documentation and quality records.

Business Development

- Assist in proposal preparation and technical bids.
- Support business development activities and client presentations.
- Identify opportunities for new planning assignments.

Required Qualifications

- Master's Degree in Urban Planning, Town Planning, Regional Planning, or Urban Design.
- Bachelor's degree in Planning or Architecture is desirable.
- Membership with a relevant professional planning body is preferred.

Experience

- 14+years of qualified experience in urban and regional planning.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary planning projects.
- Experience with government-funded or international development projects is preferred.
- Experience in Smart Cities, AMRUT, PM Gati Shakti, metro planning, or infrastructure planning is an advantage.
