Job Summary

Provide L2/L3 administration and operational support for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES), Rocky Linux, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers.

Responsibilities

- Manage Linux servers hosting SAP applications, databases, and supporting infrastructure.
- Perform end-to-end operating system installation, configuration, hardening, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
- Execute step-by-step in-place and migration-based OS upgrades with minimal production downtime.
- Plan and implement monthly OS patching activities for Production, UAT, DR, and Development environments.
- Coordinate maintenance windows with application, SAP Basis, and business teams.
- Perform vulnerability remediation and VAPT gap closure within defined SLA timelines.
- Implement and maintain Linux security hardening in accordance with organizational and industry standards.
- Support Data Center (DC) and Disaster Recovery (DR) setup, synchronization, failover, failback, and periodic DR drills.
- Participate in Production, UAT, and DR validation activities after maintenance and upgrades.
- Support server migration projects involving physical-to-virtual (P2V), virtual-to-virtual (V2V), and cloud migration activities.
- Perform system health checks, capacity planning, and proactive monitoring.
- Troubleshoot Linux kernel, boot, filesystem, storage, memory, CPU, networking,



and performance-related issues.
- Configure and manage LVM, multipathing, NFS, CIFS, and storage integration.
- Manage system services, users, groups, permissions, ACLs, and sudo policies.
- Configure and troubleshoot networking, DNS, NTP, SSH, routing, bonding, VLANs, and firewall settings.
- Work closely with SAP Basis teams during SAP installation, upgrades, kernel updates, and maintenance activities.
- Provide basic SAP infrastructure knowledge, including SAP application dependencies, SAP HANA prerequisites, and Linux optimization for SAP workloads.
- Support SAP system refresh, migration, and infrastructure-related activities.
- Maintain backup and recovery procedures and coordinate with enterprise backup solutions.
- Prepare technical documentation, SOPs, upgrade procedures, and recovery documentation.
- Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive actions for recurring incidents.
- Provide on-call and weekend support for planned maintenance and critical production incidents.
- Ensure adherence to ITIL processes, including Incident, Problem, Change, and Release Management.
- Collaborate with network, storage, virtualization, cloud, security, and SAP teams for infrastructure changes.
- Support automation using Shell scripting, Bash, Ansible, or similar tools.
