Job Summary

The Application Engineer is responsible for understanding customer requirements and converting them into suitable packaging machine solutions. The role involves machine selection, technical discussions with customers, preparation of proposals, costing, layout preparation, machine demonstrations, and coordination with internal departments to ensure successful execution of projects. The incumbent acts as the technical bridge between Sales, Design, Manufacturing, and Customers.

Key Responsibilities

1. Customer Requirement Analysis

- Understand customer packaging process and production requirements.
- Conduct technical discussions with customers to gather complete application details.
- Visit customer sites for application studies and process evaluation.
- Recommend the most suitable packaging solution based on customer needs.

2. Technical Proposal & Solution Development

- Prepare techno-commercial proposals in coordination with the Sales team.
- Select appropriate packaging machines, accessories, and automation solutions.
- Prepare machine specifications and solution documents.
- Ensure proposed solutions meet customer expectations and applicable industry standards.

3. Machine Layout & System Design

- Prepare machine layout drawings based on available customer floor space.
- Coordinate with Design Engineering for customized solutions.
- Suggest utilities, material flow, and installation requirements.

4. Cost Estimation & Quotation Support

- Coordinate with Design, Purchase, and Production teams for costing.
- Prepare BOM-based costing for customized machines.
- Support Sales during quotation preparation and technical clarifications.

5. Customer Presentations & Demonstrations





- Conduct technical presentations for customers.
- Demonstrate machine capabilities during customer visits and trials.
- Explain machine features, benefits, productivity, and ROI.

6. Machine Trials & Validation

- Coordinate internal FAT (Factory Acceptance Test).
- Support customer SAT (Site Acceptance Test).
- Conduct product trials using customer samples.
- Analyze trial results and recommend process improvements.

7. Cross Functional Coordination

- Coordinate with Sales, Design, Automation, Production, Quality, and Service departments.
- Ensure smooth transfer of project requirements to execution teams.
- Support project handover after order confirmation.

8. Technical Documentation

- Prepare application reports.
- Maintain machine specification sheets.
- Prepare customer requirement documents.
- Develop standard application data sheets.
- Maintain project records and technical documentation.

9. Customer Support

- Provide pre-sales technical support.
- Resolve application-related customer queries.
- Support installation and commissioning teams whenever required.
- Provide process optimization recommendations after installation.

10. Continuous Improvement

- Study latest packaging technologies and market trends.
- Benchmark competitor products.
- Recommend improvements in existing machine designs.
- Support new product development initiatives.

Required Qualifications

- Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Production Engineering, or a related discipline.

Experience

- 2 to 7 years of experience in Packaging Machine Manufacturing, Automation, or Special Purpose Machine (SPM) Industry.
- Experience in pharmaceutical, food, FMCG, cosmetic, or industrial packaging machines will be preferred.

Technical Skills

- Knowledge of packaging machines and packaging processes.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and machine layouts.
- Understanding of mechanical systems, pneumatics, and automation concepts.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
- Knowledge of costing and BOM preparation.
- Positive understanding of Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
