Job Title: Head Factory Operations and Repair & Refurbishment

SUMMARY –
The Head – Factory Operations and Repair & Refurbishment will provide strategic and operational leadership for the end-to-end Factory and Repair & Refurbishment (R&R;) business, ensuring delivery of business, operational, quality, cost, and customer service objectives. The role is accountable for overall factory performance, manufacturing and repair operations, business P&L;, supply chain coordination, and statutory compliance. The incumbent will drive operational excellence through Lean practices, automation, and continuous improvement while building high-performing teams and scalable capabilities to support sustainable business growth and enhanced customer satisfaction.
KEY RESPONSIBITY AREAS –
1)Operations & Shop Floor Management
- Lead overall factory operations to ensure achievement of productivity, quality, safety, and delivery targets.
- Drive efficient production planning, capacity utilization, manpower deployment, and resource optimization.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
- Monitor operational KPIs and take corrective actions to improve performance and throughput.
- Ensure adherence to SOPs, work instructions, and safety standards across the facility.
- Monitor daily production and repair schedules to achieve output and turnaround time (TAT) targets.
2) Repair & Refurbishment Excellence
- Manage end-to-end repair and refurbishment operations for customer and company-owned equipment.
- Manage complete lifecycle of returned products, including receipt, diagnosis, repair, refurbishment, testing, grading, and dispatch.
- Establish robust repair processes and quality checkpoints to minimize failures and rework.
- Analyse product failure trends and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Ensure achievement of turnaround time (TAT), quality, cost, and productivity targets.
- Standardize repair processes, establish quality controls, and drive root cause analysis to reduce failures and rework.
- Enhance customer satisfaction through reliable service delivery and process improvements.
3) Financial & Commercial Management
- Prepare and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and business plans.
- Monitor repair costs, material consumption, labor productivity, and inventory carrying costs.
- Present operational and financial MIS reports, business reviews, and improvement plans to senior management.
- Develop business cases, pricing models, and commercial proposals to support revenue growth and profitability objectives.
- Achieve monthly,
quarterly, and annual business targets related to Repair & refurbishment, and asset monetization.
4) Supply Chain & Inventory Management
- Ensure uninterrupted availability of materials, spare parts, and consumables to support business operations.
- Optimize inventory levels and improve inventory turnover while minimizing obsolete and slow-moving stock.
- Collaborate closely with Procurement, Logistics, Warehouse, and Planning teams to ensure smooth supply chain operations.
- Ensure periodic stock verification and reconciliation.
5) People Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop cross-functional teams across Production, Quality, Engineering, Warehouse, Repair Operations, and Support Functions.
- Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, customer centricity, and continuous improvement.
- Establish performance objectives and conduct regular reviews, coaching, and development programs.
- Act as the primary interface between factory operations and senior leadership teams.
- Partner with Business, Finance, Supply Chain, Sales, Customer Experience, and HR teams to achieve business objectives.
6.) Strategic Planning & Decision Making
- Formulate and execute recovery, logistics, and refurbishment strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
- Evaluate operational challenges and take data-driven decisions to improve recovery rates, productivity, and cost efficiency.
- Lead pilot programs and process transformation initiatives to drive continuous business improvement.
- Identify growth opportunities and develop scalable operational models.
7.) Compliance, Audit & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and internal control requirements.
- Oversee GST compliance, reconciliations, documentation, and audit preparedness.
- Ensure closure of Action Taken Reports (ATRs) and implementation of audit recommendations within agreed timelines.
- Identify operational and financial risks and implement mitigation plans.
8.) Operational Excellence & Process Improvement
- Lead process standardization, automation, and digitization initiatives.
- Drive SLA adherence across all operational functions and stakeholders.
- Establish governance frameworks to improve productivity, service quality, and customer experience.
- Promote continuous improvement culture through innovation and best-practice implementation.
Performance Measures
- Achievement of Revenue, Profitability (PBT/EBITDA), and Business Growth targets in line with the Annual Operating Plan (AOP).
- Delivery of Factory KPIs through achievement of Productivity, OEE/Capacity Utilization, Quality (FPY/Rework), On-Time Delivery (OTD), Turnaround Time (TAT), Safety, and Cost Efficiency targets.
- Achievement of Product Development and Repair & Refurbishment performance targets through improved asset recovery, refurbishment yield, inventory optimization, and reduction in write-offs and ageing inventory.
- Achievement of Customer Excellence through SLA adherence, customer satisfaction, timely issue resolution, and effective stakeholder management.
- Achievement of Working Capital & Financial objectives through inventory optimization, cost management, cash flow improvement, and efficient asset utilization.
- Strengthening of Governance, Compliance & Risk Management by ensuring adherence to statutory, regulatory, quality, audit, and internal control requirements with timely closure of audit observations.
- Development of a High-Performing Organization by building leadership capability, strengthening employee engagement, succession planning, capability development, and fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Delivery of Factory & Operational Excellence through achievement of Productivity, OEE/Capacity Utilization, Quality (FPY/Rework), On-Time Delivery (OTD), Turnaround Time (TAT), Safety, and Cost Efficiency targets.
Experience:
- Minimum 15+ years of experience in Repair & Refurb, Factory Operations, Product Development, Service Centre Operations, Reverse Logistics, is required.
- Proven experience in leading a Business Unit, Factory, Plant, Manufacturing, Product Development, or Service Operations with some exposure to P&L; management.
- Demonstrated success in driving business growth, operational excellence, cost optimization, and large-scale transformation initiatives.
- Experience in leading large cross-functional teams, managing customer and partner ecosystems, and driving stakeholder engagement.
- Robust understanding of manufacturing operations, factory management, service centre operations, quality systems, statutory compliance, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Candidates based in Noida/Delhi will be preferred.
Educational Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or Diploma (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Industrial, Production, or a related discipline).
MBA/PGDM/master’s in operations, Supply Chain preferred.
