A Cashier cum Inventory Executive in the fashion and ethnic wear industry is a dual-role professional responsible for managing the point-of-sale (POS) terminal and ensuring the accuracy of high-value stock like sarees, lehengas, and designer apparel.

Core Responsibilities

1. Billing & Cash Management

•

Process Transactions: Handle cash, credit cards, and digital payments (UPI/Wallets) accurately using POS systems.

•

Billing Accuracy: Ensure correct pricing, apply seasonal discounts, and generate invoices.

•

Reconciliation: Balance the cash drawer at the beginning and end of shifts and report any discrepancies.

•

Returns & Exchanges: Manage product returns and exchanges according to store policy.

2. Inventory & Stock Management

•

Stock Audits: Conduct regular physical stock counts and reconcile them with system records to minimize shrinkage.

•

Inward Processing: Receive, label (barcoding/tagging), and store current merchandise arrivals.

•

Inventory Monitoring: Track low-stock levels for popular ethnic designs and notify management for replenishment.

•

Quality Checks:



Perform quality inspections on stored items and report any damaged pieces.

3. Customer Service & Sales Support

•

Product Knowledge: Provide information on fabric types (e.g., silk, cotton), embroidery styles, and sizing for ethnic wear.

•

Cross-selling: Suggest matching accessories or complementary apparel to increase average transaction value.

•

Query Resolution: Address customer questions regarding billing or stock availability.

Skills & Qualifications

•

Education: Minimum High School Diploma; a degree in Finance or Commerce is often preferred for accounting-heavy roles.

•

Experience: 1–3 years in retail cashiering or inventory roles, preferably within a fashion boutique or showroom.

•

Technical Proficiency: Ability to use POS software, barcode scanners, and basic Microsoft Excel for reporting.

•

Attributes: Strong numerical ability, attention to detail, and a professional appearance suitable for a fashion environment
