Product Design & Engineering: Create 3D CAD models (Creo (must), Solid works) and 2D engineering drawings for new plastic products, focusing on rotomolding techniques.
Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Analyze part geometry to ensure proper draft angles, wall thickness, corner radii, and venting, ensuring the part can be effectively manufactured.
Tooling Design & Management: Design or review technical specs for aluminum, steel, or electroformed molds. Manage mold vendors to ensure timely delivery and proper functionality.
Material Selection: Select appropriate thermoplastic resins (e.g., Polyethylene, PVC) based on desired part strength, impact resistance, and environmental factors.
Prototyping & Testing: Create prototypes, conduct mold trials (sampling), and perform testing (drop tests, stress testing)



to validate designs.
Process Optimization: Collaborate with production teams to troubleshoot molding defects (e.g., shrinkage, deformation, thin corners) and optimize cycle times.
Documentation: Maintain up-to-date design records, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and revision history.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or Industrial Design.
Experience: 4-12 years of experience in product design, specifically with plastics (roto moulding preferred).
Software Proficiency: High proficiency in 3D CAD software (Creo is highly preferred).
Technical Knowledge: Robust understanding of polymer properties, material flow, and rotational moulding machinery.
Communication: Ability to work with cross-functional teams, including production operators, sales, and external vendors.
