Founded in Aug 2020 by IIT & IIM alumni, Oben Electric is an R&D-driven; organization that designs, develops, and manufactures electric motorcycles in-house, along with critical EV components. The company is focused on 'Design in India for the World', with a team of passionate technologists who bring 25+ years of collective hands-on experience in electric two-wheelers and their components. Oben Electric holds 18+ patents for its proprietary technology and EV components, and is leading the adoption of electric motorcycles in India.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role as a CMF Designer at Oben Electric in Bengaluru. The CMF Designer will be responsible for designing and developing the color, material, and finish for electric motorcycles. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create appealing and cutting-edge designs that meet customer requirements and brand standards. The CMF Designer will also conduct research on emerging trends, materials, and technologies in the automotive industry.

Key Responsibilities:

- Ensure Appearance Approval for interiors & exteriors, focusing on quality and design improvement.
- Plan and execute CMF design activities to ensure timely delivery of quality.
- Coordinate with supplier technical assistants for Appearance Approval.




- Drive supplier compliance with Oben Electric’s CMF requirements.
- Lead Innovation, Advanced Technology & Benchmarking.
- Manage CMF masters for Paint, Fabric & Textures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional peers to align CMF design with program targets.
- Have a thorough understanding of design principles
- Possess extreme diligence to quality and attention to detail
- Set and clearly communicate perceived quality criteria
- Have a base understanding of both soft and hard material developments
- Work with purchasing, marketing, and suppliers on materials sourcing.

Qualifications

- Experience in color, material, and finish (CMF) design
- Knowledge of automotive design and trends
- Strong understanding of materials and their characteristics
- Ability to create visually appealing and innovative designs
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Experience in the electric vehicle industry is a plus
- Minimum 2 years experience in CMF with understanding of Quality and Manufacturing.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Design, CMF, Materials Science, Fabric and Textile/Pattern Design, or related field.
- Proficiency in design software (Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, etc.).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Creativity, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
