Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Surgery Medical Coder with expertise in Neurology Surgery, Nephrology Surgery, and Orthopedic Surgery coding. The candidate will be responsible for reviewing medical records, operative reports, and physician documentation to accurately assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and modifier codes while ensuring compliance with coding guidelines, payer requirements, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Review and analyze operative reports, physician notes, inpatient and outpatient records, and ancillary documentation.
- Assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS Level II, and modifier codes for Neurology, Nephrology, and Orthopedic surgical procedures.
- Ensure coding compliance with CMS, NCCI edits, AMA CPT guidelines, and payer-specific regulations.
- Verify medical necessity and documentation completeness for coded services.
- Identify and resolve coding edits, claim rejections, and denials.
- Communicate with physicians and clinical staff to obtain documentation clarification when required.
- Participate in coding quality audits and maintain coding accuracy standards.
- Stay updated on coding guideline changes, reimbursement policies, and specialty-specific coding updates.

- Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA)

- ACL/PCL Reconstruction
- Rotator Cuff Repair
- Fracture Care (ORIF/CRIF)
- Hand, Wrist, Foot, and Ankle Surgeries
- Spine Surgeries
- Joint Revision Procedures

Required Qualifications

- Certified Professional Coder (CPC), CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, or RHIA certification.
- Minimum 25 years of Surgery Coding experience with exposure to Neurology, Nephrology, and Orthopedic specialties.
- Strong knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology, and Medical Terminology.
- Proficiency in ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS Level II coding systems.
- Experience with EHR, Encoder, and Practice Management systems.

Required Skills

- Expertise in surgical coding and modifier assignment.
- Strong understanding of global surgery package concepts.
- Knowledge of NCCI edits, LCD/NCD policies, and payer guidelines.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain productivity and coding accuracy standards.

Preferred Qualifications

- Multi-specialty surgery coding experience.
- Experience handling coding audits and denial management.
- Familiarity with physician query processes and documentation improvement initiatives.

Performance Expectations

- Achieve coding accuracy of 95% or higher.
- Meet daily productivity targets.
- Ensure timely turnaround of assigned coding work queues.
- Support compliance and audit readiness initiatives.
