Technology Lead

Job Summary:
We are seeking experienced and hands-on Technology Lead to drive the design, development, and delivery of scalable digital banking platforms at IDFC FIRST Bank. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in Java and/or GoLang, modern software architecture, and engineering leadership. This role will drive technology strategy, provide technical direction across teams, and ensure the successful delivery of secure, high-performing, and scalable banking solutions.

The successful candidate will work closely with Product Managers, Architects, Engineering Leaders, and business stakeholders to design and implement technology solutions that support the bank's digital transformation initiatives while maintaining the highest standards of reliability, scalability, and security.

Key Responsibilities

- Drive the architecture, design, development, and modernization of applications using Java and/or GoLang, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performing technology solutions.
- Foster the technical growth and development of engineers through mentorship, knowledge sharing, code reviews, and the promotion of engineering best practices across the team.
- Serve as the technical lead for critical engineering initiatives, providing hands-on guidance and influencing technical decisions across teams without direct people-management responsibilities.
- Leverage AI-powered development tools and automation capabilities to improve engineering productivity, accelerate delivery, enhance code quality, and streamline software development workflows.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
- Partners with engineers, architects, product managers, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable and resilient technology solutions for digital banking services.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, architects, and dependent engineering pods to ensure seamless system integration, alignment on technical roadmaps, and successful project execution.




- Drive architectural and design decisions that enable scalability, interoperability, and reusability across multiple applications and domains.
- Ensure effective management of system dependencies, integrations, and stakeholder expectations across interconnected platforms.
- Drive adoption of engineering best practices, coding standards, and software design principles.
- Design and implement Microservices and API-first architectures.
- Implement Agile methodologies to improve efficiency, quality, and productivity.
- Provide technical mentorship, conduct code reviews, and champion engineering best practices to elevate the overall quality and effectiveness of development teams.
- Monitor application performance and system health, identifying opportunities for improvement and optimization.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues and lead root-cause analysis initiatives.
- Ensure applications meet performance, security, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies, industry trends, and digital banking innovations to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

- Bachelors or masters degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in software engineering, with significant hands-on development experience and exposure to digital banking, fintech, or enterprise technology environments.
- Proven experience acting as a technical lead or senior engineer, driving technical decisions and influencing outcomes across multiple stakeholder groups.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, and up-to-date engineering practices.

Preferred Skills

- Strong expertise in Java (Java 8+, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud) and/or GoLang or python, with hands-on experience building scalable, enterprise-grade applications.
- Proven experience in designing and developing Microservices, RESTful APIs, and distributed systems in high-availability environments.
- Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, and MongoDB.
- Experience working with event-driven architectures, messaging platforms such as Kafka, and cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Solid understanding of system design, performance optimization, application security, and scalability principles.
- Proficiency in modern DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, Git-based workflows, and deployment automation.
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, ELK, Grafana, or Prometheus.
- Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including design patterns, code reviews, automated testing, and engineering governance.
- Demonstrated experience managing platforms and services that interact with multiple engineering teams, business units, and dependent technology pods, ensuring seamless integration and effective stakeholder collaboration.
- Ability to drive cross-functional technical initiatives, manage inter-system dependencies, and coordinate delivery across multiple teams in a complex enterprise environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead end-to-end technical delivery, drive architectural decisions, mentor engineers, and ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of production systems.
