Position: Subject Matter Expert (SME) Engine
Qualification: CoC as Fourth Engineer, Third Engineer, or higher
Experience: Minimum 624 months of sea-going experience as a Fourth Engineer and/or Third Engineer

Role Overview

The SME Engine will provide technical expertise for the development, review, and validation of maritime training content within the Learning Management System (LMS). The role ensures that all learning materials accurately reflect shipboard engineering practices, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and review engine-related training content, assessments, and procedures.
- Validate technical accuracy of scripts, storyboards, animations, and e-learning modules.
- Provide practical shipboard knowledge and best practices.
- Collaborate with content developers, instructional designers, and animation teams.
- Ensure compliance with maritime regulations and industry standards.
- Update training content in line with technological and regulatory changes.

Technical Knowledge

- Main and auxiliary engines
- Fuel, lubricating oil, and cooling water systems
- Boilers, compressors, and fresh water generators
- Purifiers, separators, OWS, and STP
- Pumps, valves, piping systems,



and automation
- Engine room watchkeeping and maintenance practices
- Planned Maintenance Systems (PMS)
- Engine room safety and emergency procedures

Regulatory Knowledge

- ISM Code
- SOLAS
- MARPOL
- Company Safety Management Systems (SMS)
- Risk Assessment and Permit-to-Work systems

Preferred Skills

- Technical writing and documentation
- E-learning and content review experience
- Solid communication and analytical skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and LMS platforms
