Job Description / Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care as Scrub Nurse and Circulating Nurse.
- Maintain strict sterile and aseptic techniques inside the Operation Theatre.
- Prepare OT setup including instruments, consumables, equipment, and sterile trays.
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and anticipating surgical needs.
- Perform and document sponge, needle, and instrument counts as per protocol.
- Coordinate with surgeons, anesthetists, OT technicians, and ward staff.
- Conduct WHO Surgical Safety Checklist (Sign In, Time Out, Sign Out).
- Assist in patient positioning, skin preparation, draping, and dressing.
- Monitor patient safety and maintain dignity throughout the procedure.
- Handle and label surgical specimens as per hospital policy.
- Ensure proper cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of OT instruments.
- Follow infection control, NABH, and biomedical waste management guidelines.
- Assist in emergency and night-duty OT procedures as per duty roster.
- Maintain OT documentation, registers, and shift handovers.
- Robust knowledge of OT protocols and sterile techniques
- Ability to work in high-pressure surgical environments
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to work in shifts, night duty, and emergencies
Education
- DGNM / B.Sc Nursing
Experience
- 2+ years of experience as OT Staff Nurse
- Experience in multi-specialty hospital OT preferred
Certifications (Preferred)
- BLS / ACLS
- OT Nursing Certification (if available)
