Position Overview The Tool Room Supervisor is responsible for managing day-to-day tool room operations ensuring availability maintenance and proper functioning of tools dies jigs and fixtures The role involves supervising tool room technicians coordinating with production for tool requirements performing preventive maintenance and ensuring high standards of quality safety and documentation The supervisor ensures smooth workflow minimum downtime and optimal tool performance to support production efficiency Key Responsibilities 1 Tool Room Operations Oversee daily tool room activities including tool storage issue return and tracking Manage maintenance repair and calibration of tools jigs fixtures and dies Monitor tool life and maintain tool usage records Ensure tools are available on time for production requirements 2 Preventive Breakdown Maintenance Execute preventive maintenance schedules for tools and dies Identify tool wear damage and potential failures Conduct sharpening polishing and corrective repairs as needed Coordinate breakdown repairs with maintenance and production teams to minimize downtime 3 Tool Die Machine Handling Inspect tools dies fixtures for accuracy wear and proper functionality Manage tool fitting assembly dismantling and adjustments Operate tool room machines such as Lathe Milling Surface Grinder and CNC if applicable Ensure proper handling storage and safety of precision tools and measuring instruments 4 Quality Assurance Ensure all tools and dies meet quality specifications and tolerances Perform dimensional checks using instruments like Vernier Micrometer Height Gauge etc Conduct first-piece tool verification before issuing to production Work with QA team on tool-related issues corrective actions and improvements 5 Safety Compliance Ensure tool room operations follow safety standards and machine guarding protocols Enforce use of PPE and safe tool-handling practices Maintain 5S in the tool room ensuring cleanliness organization and safety Conduct periodic safety audits and guide technicians on safe machine operation 6 Manpower Supervision Supervise tool room technicians and helpers Allocate tasks monitor performance and ensure efficient workflow Train team members on tool maintenance machine operation and quality checks Maintain discipline attendance and skill development of team members 7 Reporting Documentation Maintain tool inventory calibration logs maintenance records and repair history Update daily reports like tool issue logs breakdown reports tool life records etc Manage documentation through ERP or production systems Communicate tool shortages repairs and requirements to management 8 Continuous Improvement Identify ways to reduce tool wear and increase tool life Implement improvements in tool design handling methods and storage practices Support Kaizen 5S SMED and lean manufacturing initiatives Suggest cost-saving ideas related to tooling and die maintenance Qualifications Experience ITI Diploma - Tool Room Tool Die Mechanical or related field 8-10 years of hands-on experience in tool room operations Solid knowledge of tools dies jigs fixtures and precision instruments Experience in tool maintenance die repair machining processes and safety standards Skills Competencies Strong technical knowledge of tool room machines Lathe Milling Grinding CNC Ability to read mechanical drawings and understand tolerances Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills Leadership and team supervision abilities Good communication and coordination skills Knowledge of 5S safety protocols and basic quality tools Job Type Full-time Pay 30 000 00 - 40 000 00 per month
