Role & responsibilities
- Mechanical Systems Architecture - Lead mechanical system architecture for ROVs and autonomous underwater vehicle platforms; define subsystem breakdown and design direction.
- 3D CAD & Design Review (SolidWorks/Creo) - Review and approve 3D models, drawings, tolerance stacks, and design changes across projects.
- Pressure Vessel & Sealing Engineering - Oversee design, analysis, and qualification of pressure housings, penetrators, and sealing systems for deep-water environments.
- Structural & Hydrodynamic Analysis - Interpret FEA/CFD results and guide the team in converting analysis outcomes into actionable design improvements.
- Marine Propulsion Systems - Guide design of thruster systems, shafts, bearings, and propulsion elements under various hydrodynamic conditions.
- Mechanism Design & Actuation - Lead development of mechanisms, actuators, and moving assemblies used in ROV/AUV systems.
- Materials & Marine Coatings - Select materials, coatings, and treatments suitable for corrosion-heavy marine environments; support fatigue and reliability evaluation.
- DFMEA / RCA - Drive DFMEA reviews, lead root-cause investigations, and implement reliability improvements across product lines.
- Program & Project Management - Manage mechanical engineering work packages, schedules, risks,
and cross-functional coordination.
- Team Leadership & Coaching - Mentor, evaluate, and grow capabilities of mechanical engineering team members across levels.
- Vendor & Manufacturing Interface - Collaborate with suppliers, fabricators, and manufacturing partners to ensure build readiness and DFM/A compliance.
Preferred candidate profile
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical/Mechatronics/Marine Engineering or M.E./M. Tech in Mechanical/Marine/Ocean Engineering.
- 4-8 years of experience in mechanical design of complex electromechanical systems.
- Robust understanding of marine environmental loads, IP-rated design, corrosion engineering, sealing, and marine-grade materials.
- Experience with naval standards (MIL-STD, DNVGL, ABS, SOLAS where applicable).
- Experience leading teams delivering ROVs, AUVs, USVs, or complex robotics.
- Certification or training in CAD softwares like SolidWorks, Creo, FEA/CFD tools.
- Experience in design for manufacturability and reliability engineering. Hands-on experience in underwater robotics, marine structures, UAV/ROV/AUV systems, or autonomous surface platforms.
