Achieving our goals starts with supporting yours Grow your career access top-tier health and wellness benefits build lasting connections with your team and our customers and travel the world using our extensive route network Come join us to create what s next Let s define tomorrow together Description We believe that inclusion helps us thrive and grow at United across our collaborative Finance teams consisting of Financial Planning Analysis Internal Audit Treasury Global Procurement Controllership Investor Relations and more These teams provide the financial fuel that keeps our operation running from providing detailed analyses of financial planning performance and forecasts to managing our investments and financial strategies Our Finance team plays an integral role in making our airline profitable and successful by meeting our financial goals Job overview and responsibilities The Senior Accountant supports the financial operations of United Aviate Academy Responsible for all financial processes including budget tracking billing receivables payables financial reporting statements forecasting month-end quarter-end and year-end closes contract planning financial review payroll revenue recognition light tax related functions analysis and reporting and audit preparation Work closely with and report to the Director Finance Controller working in partnership with the parent company United and their accounting finance treasury team members Collaborate with a small team covering payroll receivables and payables Accounts Payable Processes vendor payments review expense reports for payment invoice coding preparation of check ride invoices to students Handle employee reimbursements and credit card account management including auditing and analysis Provide support on staff inquiries related to budgets deposits disbursements contract analysis reporting and transfer of payments via ACH wire or file feeds Serve as a trusted business advisor by building solid relationships across departments and the parent company Preparation and research of journal entries in Workday Oracle for month-end quarter-end and year-end close including fixed assets Preparation of monthly balance sheet account reconciliations Reconciliation of Intercompany accounting with United Develop and implement accounting and finance processes and procedures Identify opportunities for process improvements to streamline consistency and efficiencies across financial operations Preparation of year-end books and audit schedules and coordination with internal and external auditors on requests for audits This position is offered on local terms and conditions Expatriate assignments and sponsorship for employment visas even on a time-limited visa status will not be awarded This position is for United Airlines Business Services Pvt Ltd - a wholly owned subsidiary of United Airlines Inc Qualifications What s needed to succeed Minimum Qualifications Bachelor s degree Accounting Finance or related area Bachelor s degree i e Finance Accounting or Business Administration 4 years related experience in accounting field Accounts payable general ledger and balance sheet Experience with ERP systems Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles GAAP Experience processing and or managing month-end quarter-end year-end processes developing reports and auditing Knowledge and understanding of finance accounting systems and designing processes and procedures Proficiency with Microsoft Office products finance and accounting systems Advanced Excel skills including VLOOKUPs pivot tables macros and what-if analysis Strong ability to use data analytics determine key decisions and identify actions for best results Knowledge of accounting financial statements policies and procedures including SOX controls Ability to understand the business operations from both a strategic and tactical perspective Ability to thrive within ambiguity and drive complex projects and day-to-day initiatives task Think strategically and translate concepts into actionable items Outstanding attention to detail organizational skills valuing compliance ethical behavior governance controls and adhering to company and financial policies Motivated self-directed and results-driven approach to work takes ownership of assigned tasks to drive them to timely completion Build strong partnerships across the business areas advising on finance accounting practices Courage to make key financial decisions and advise leadership with professionalism poise Comfortable working in ambiguous business situations Excellent oral and written communications skills Must be legally authorized to work in India for any employer without sponsorship Must be fluent in English written and spoken Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification Reliable punctual attendance is an essential function of the position What will help you propel from the pack Preferred Qualifications CPA Master s or MBA in finance accounting preferred or equivalent certifications GL General Ledger and month-end close Workday financial systems and Oracle
