Leading a Multidisciplinary Team across Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Biomedical, and IT Infrastructure Engineering, this role ensures 100% uptime of Critical Life-support Systems, Enterprise Data Pathways, absolute adherence to Healthcare Regulations, and the Continuous Implementation of Cost-effective, Green Energy Initiatives in a 24/7 High-stakes Environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Regulatory, Statutory & Quality Compliance (Critical Mandate)
- Ensure the entire facility strictly adheres to all National, State, and Local Municipal Statutory Requirements (e.g., Fire Safety NOC, Boiler Licenses, Lift Approvals, CEA regulations, PCB/MPCB norms, etc).
- Maintain absolute compliance with Healthcare Accreditation Standards such as NABH, NABL, and JCI (specifically Facility Management and Safety standards).
- Oversee Statutory Compliance for Environmental Norms, including the Water Act, Air Act, and BMW (Bio-Medical Waste) management rules for the STP/ETP.
- Ensure data security Physical Compliance, Network Infrastructure Safety Standards, and Telecommunication Statutory Norms are met.
- Act as the Primary Liaison for Government Inspectors, Pollution Control Boards, and External Quality Auditors; maintain Meticulous, Audit-ready Documentation.
2. Energy Conservation & Cost Optimization (Strategic Mandate)
- Conduct regular Energy, Water, and Thermal audits to identify inefficiencies across the facility.
- Design and execute Strategic Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs)
to reduce the Hospitals Carbon Footprint and Operational Expenditures (OPEX).
- Explore and implement Sustainable Technologies, including Solar PV integration, Waste Heat Recovery Systems, Smart HVAC Scheduling, and AI-driven Building Management Systems (BMS).
- Optimize Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) within Server Rooms, Data Centres, and Network Hubs.
- Monitor and Optimize Power Factor, Maximum Demand, and Utility Tariff Structures to minimize Electricity and Fuel Bills.
3. Leadership & Multidisciplinary Team Management
- Provide Strategic Direction and Leadership to the Departmental Heads of Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Biomedical, and IT Hardware/ELV Engineering.
- Establish robust SOPs, KPI frameworks, and emergency response protocols for all five engineering sections.
- Manage shift scheduling, resource allocation, and continuous technical training to ensure flawless 24/7 operational coverage across both physical and digital infrastructures.
4. Core Engineering, Biomedical & IT/ELV Infrastructure Oversight
- Electrical: Oversee HT/LT power distribution, transformers, DG sets (ensuring seamless backup power), and UPS systems.
- Mechanical (HVAC & Medical Gases): Ensure strict environmental controls (temperature, humidity, pressure gradients) in critical areas like OTs, ICUs, Server/Data Rooms, and Isolation Wards. Oversee MGPS (Medical Gas Pipeline Systems) and chiller plants.
- Biomedical:
Partner with the Biomedical lead to optimize the lifecycle, calibration, and uptime of high-end equipment (MRI, CT scans, Cath Labs) and manage AMCs/CMCs effectively.
- Civil & Plumbing: Oversee building maintenance, structural integrity, and water/sewage treatment plants (WTP/STP/ETP).
- IT Hardware & ELV (Extra Low Voltage): Oversee the Management, Uptime, and Scaling of Core IT Hardware, Server Room Infrastructure, Structured Cabling, and Data Centres. Drive the Engineering and Maintenance of all critical ELV systems, including IP CCTV Surveillance, Access Control Systems (ACS), Public Address (PA) systems, Fire Alarm Systems (FAS), Nurse Call systems, and Building Management Systems (BMS).
