ABOUT MSA
MSA Global Technology & Engineering is an AS9100 Rev D and DGQA-certified precision manufacturing company serving aerospace and defence customers, including Boeing (via TASL) and the Indian Army. We operate a fleet of DMG MORI 5-axis and 3-axis CNC machines, working with advanced materials such as titanium and Inconel. As we expand into a new facility, we are strengthening our organisation with experienced leadership across functions.
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Assistant Manager EHS will own the plant's environment, health and safety function end-to-end, building and driving a strong safety culture across a precision CNC machining facility. The role covers statutory compliance, risk management, incident prevention, and audit readiness, and reports to the Plant Head / Operations Head.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS (NON-NEGOTIABLE)
- Bachelor's degree/diploma in Engineering, Environmental Science, or Industrial Safety; a recognised Diploma in Industrial Safety is required.
- Minimum 4 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment, with exposure to metal-cutting/machining operations strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of the Factories Act, Karnataka Factories Rules, Environment Protection Act, Hazardous Waste Rules, and other applicable state/central statutes.
- Experience managing statutory licenses and renewals Factory License, Pollution Control Board consents (CTE/CTO),
Fire NOC, and related approvals.
- Demonstrated experience conducting Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for CNC machining operations.
- Experience implementing and maintaining ISO 45001/14001 or equivalent EHS management systems.
- Experience with incident/near-miss investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action tracking.
- Working knowledge of hazardous material handling (coolants, cutting fluids), waste disposal, and effluent management relevant to a machining facility.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own the plant-wide EHS policy, systems, and statutory compliance calendar.
- Conduct regular safety audits, HIRA, and machine-specific risk assessments across CNC/machining areas.
- Drive incident and near-miss reporting, investigation, and closure of corrective and preventive actions.
- Manage statutory licenses and renewals, and serve as the primary liaison with regulatory authorities (DISH, KSPCB, Fire Department, and others).
- Design and roll out safety training programmes, inductions, toolbox talks, and periodic mock drills.
- Maintain EHS documentation and records to support AS9100D and customer audits.
- Track EHS KPIs LTIFR, near-miss closure rate, training coverage and report performance to Leadership.
- Drive continuous improvement in machine guarding, workplace ergonomics, PPE compliance, and fire/emergency preparedness.
- Partner with HR and Operations on EHS-related grievances, welfare facilities, and workplace safety culture initiatives.
DESIRED SKILLS
- Certification in Industrial Safety, NEBOSH, or IOSH preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of Indian labour and environmental statutes.
- Strong audit-readiness mindset with attention to documentation and traceability.
- Good communication and training/facilitation skills to drive safety culture across shop-floor teams.
