Retiyo, a khadi-focused fashion house, is looking for an experienced Fashion Designer to lead design direction for our natural-fibre collections. This is an opportunity to shape a growing khadi and handloom brand with a strong point of view on craft, texture, and contemporary silhouette.

About the Role

We're looking for an independent-thinking designer who can bring international design sensibility to India's handloom traditions — someone equally comfortable reading trend forecasts and understanding the strengths and limitations of hand-spun cotton and silk. This role offers the opportunity to create the brand language for a sustainable, khadi-rooted brand in India, working as an independent contributor with minimal supervision and full ownership of the design process.

Experience & Qualifications

● 6–8 years of experience in an export house, with proven exposure to international design and production processes

● Design experience with global fast-fashion or high-street brands such as Zara, Mango, Vero Moda, or similar high-fashion labels in the UK, Europe, or US markets

● NIFT alumnus/alumna (National Institute of Fashion Technology)

● Strong foundation in pattern making, textiles, and garment production

● Experience utilizing AI-powered design tools for print creation

Key Skills

● Strong understanding of retail customer style preferences across markets

● Expertise in textile design and surface ornamentation

● Strong pattern-making skills

● Ability to track and forecast fashion trends

● Deep interest in and knowledge of natural fibres — cotton and silk handloom — including an understanding of their strengths and challenges (shrinkage, weave irregularities, dyeing behaviour,



care requirements, etc.)

● Strong understanding of brand language, with the ability to tailor designs based on in-depth research

● Independent thinker with a strong personal design point of view

What You'll Do

● Create and evolve the brand language for Retiyo's sustainable, khadi-rooted collections

● Lead design development for Retiyo's khadi and handloom collections, season on season

● Translate global trend forecasts into designs relevant to Indian retail customers

● Develop surface ornamentation and textile design concepts rooted in handloom techniques, including the use of AI-powered tools for print creation

● Create and refine patterns suited to the behaviour of natural fibres

● Collaborate closely with weavers, artisans, and production teams to balance craft authenticity with retail-ready design

● Solve problems quickly and think creatively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven workplace
