Summary:

We are seeking an experienced MySQL & MariaDB Administrator to manage and optimize database environments across on-premises Linux and AIX systems, as well as AWS cloud platforms. This role is critical to ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of our mission-critical database systems. The ideal candidate will provide 24x7 production support, lead database maintenance and upgrades, and drive high availability and disaster recovery strategies. You will play a key role in performance tuning, incident resolution, and seamless database migrations—ensuring minimal downtime and maximum system uptime. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and automation of routine tasks will be central to your success in this agile, high-impact position.

Responsibilities:

- Manage and administer MySQL and MariaDB databases across on-premises (Linux, AIX) and AWS cloud environments

- Provide 24x7 rotational production support to ensure high availability and rapid incident resolution

- Perform database installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and routine maintenance

- Design and implement robust backup and recovery strategies using tools such as mysqldump and Percona XtraBackup

- Configure and maintain replication topologies (master-slave, master-master) and clustering solutions like Galera Cluster

- Ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness for critical database systems

- Conduct performance tuning through query optimization, indexing, and database parameter adjustments

- Monitor database health and performance,



implementing proactive alerting and optimization mechanisms

- Execute database migrations (on-prem to AWS) and version upgrades with minimal downtime

- Leverage AWS services including RDS, Aurora MySQL, EC2-hosted databases, and CloudWatch for monitoring and management

- Enforce database security, access control, and compliance with organizational standards

- Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to resolve issues and enhance system performance

- Automate routine DBA tasks using shell scripting or Python

- Maintain comprehensive database documentation, operational procedures, and audit readiness

Requirements

- 7-12 years of hands-on experience as a MySQL and MariaDB Database Administrator

- Proven experience managing databases in Linux environments; exposure to AIX systems is a plus

- Strong expertise in database performance tuning, replication, clustering, and high availability solutions

- Experience with backup and recovery tools including mysqldump and Percona XtraBackup

- Demonstrated ability to manage database migrations and upgrades with minimal downtime

- Proficiency with AWS cloud services such as RDS, Aurora MySQL, EC2, and CloudWatch

- Solid understanding of database security, access control, and compliance practices

- Experience in automation using shell scripting or Python

- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills

- Mandatory: Expertise in MySQL and MariaDB DBA operations

- Good to have: Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL database administration, including installation, backup, performance tuning, and replication
