Make Your Mark:
BlackLine is building the AI-native platform for autonomous finance: configure once, let agents execute the workflow, and have people review the exceptions. As Senior Product Manager based in India, you will support the Journal Entry product area and help build financial close services that underpin BlackLine’s agentic finance platform. Journals sit at the foundation of the record-to-report (R2R) close, and the services you help build become shared building blocks that Journals and adjacent close areas rely on.
The financial close is shifting from periodic, manual effort toward continuous, intelligent, and increasingly autonomous workflows. Your job is to turn that direction into well-executed product: partnering with senior PMs and leadership on strategy, and owning the day-to-day product decisions, requirements, and delivery that bring the Journals area and the financial close services layer to life, on time and at a high-quality bar.
You'll Get To:
· Journals Product Roadmap & Execution: Contribute to the roadmap and own end-to-end execution for the Journals product area, from discovery through launch, in partnership with senior PMs and leadership. Balance new capabilities, enhancements, and defect resolution, and contribute to the broader close-services strategy while owning delivery within your area.
· AI-Native Close Services: Help build shared financial close services that power the agentic finance platform. Translate close-process needs into well-scoped, reusable services that Journals and adjacent R2R product areas can leverage.
· Requirements & Product Craft: Write high-quality PRDs, epics, and user stories, and build rapid prototypes to quickly iterate on design concepts and test solutions with customers and other stakeholders. Anticipate edge cases and user scenarios, define clear acceptance criteria, effectively communicate requirements direction to engineering teams, and hold a high-quality bar from specification through delivery.
· Discovery & Customer Insight: Engage regularly with customers and stakeholders. Build detailed user journeys, analyze usage data, and track competitor features and domain trends to inform product direction.
· Cross-Functional Delivery: Work closely with Engineering, Design, and Data Science to plan sprints, manage the backlog, sequence dependencies, and deliver on commitments. Build strong relationships and drive alignment across teams.
· Data-Informed Decisions:
Define and track KPIs for your area as well as define and measure success criteria for the capabilities you ship. Use quantitative and qualitative data, and those success measures, to guide decision-making, prioritize effectively, and make timely, well-reasoned trade-offs, balancing speed with quality.
· Stakeholder Communication: Keep stakeholders aligned through clear updates, roadmaps, and presentations, tailoring the message to engineers, partners, and leadership.
· Initiative & Team Contribution: Take initiative on process improvements and share domain and craft knowledge with the team.
What You'll Bring:
· 5–8 years in product management or a related role, with experience taking product from discovery to launch.
· Track record of owning a product area or feature set and delivering measurable outcomes.
· Strong product craft: high-quality PRDs, epics, and user stories; anticipates edge cases; consistently meets sprint commitments.
· Proficiency in Agile methodologies and modern product development tooling like Jira, Jira Product Discovery, Confluence, Pendo or other product usage analytics tools, etc.
· Strong proficiency using AI tools such as Claude, Gemini, or ChatGPT to accelerate and enhance the product development lifecycle.
· Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience; working knowledge of accounting or finance is an advantage.
Domain Expertise
· Understanding of enterprise SaaS and R2R close process, including how journals connect to reconciliations, matching, consolidation, and audit control frameworks.
· Hands-on or product experience building accounting, journal entry, or accounting close software as well as an awareness of the competitive landscape is strongly preferred.
· Exposure to the ERP and GL data landscape (SAP, Oracle, Workday, NetSuite), sub-ledger versus GL, and common source-to-close integration patterns is a plus.
Working within an AI-native platform
· Comfort building products within an AI-native, agentic platform.
· Familiarity with AI-assisted or automated workflows, confidence thresholds, human-in-the-loop review,
and the ability to partner effectively with Data Science teams to build machine learning-based capabilities is strongly preferred.
Collaboration & communication
· You work independently with minimal oversight and handles problems of diverse scope.
· You build robust relationships across Engineering, Design, and Data Science; resolve conflicts and drives alignment.
· Excellent communication; you tailor messaging to different audiences and facilitate discussion and alignment.
· You make timely, informed decisions, balancing speed with quality
