About the Role
You'll source, evaluate, and buy the fabrics behind Aramya's collections — working closely with design to translate creative direction into the right fabric, and with production to land on quality, cost, and timelines.
This is as much a technical role as a sourcing one: strong textile engineering fundamentals, an eye for quality, and the commercial acumen to negotiate well and cost accurately — with design sensibility layered on top.
Key responsibilities
1. Sourcing & Vendor Management
- Identify and finalise fabric, greige, and yarn suppliers, with a view toward long-term, formalised arrangements at the best possible prices
- Build and leverage a strong sourcing network; contacts in Southern India are a strong advantage
- Evaluate in-house production versus external sourcing models as the business scales
2. Technical & Textile Engineering
- Bring a working technical understanding of textile engineering — weaves, construction, fabric behavior — beyond sourcing execution alone
- Support R&D; benchmarking, evaluating fabric quality, cost, and performance against market and competitor standards
- Deepen weaving and manufacturing process expertise on the job, building toward hardcore textile engineering capability over time
3. Costing & Design Liaison
- Own costing accuracy as an independent check against brand-level KPI targets
- Act as the liaison between design and sourcing, ensuring fabric choices are feasible and cost-aligned
- Operate with a degree of independence in validating cost assumptions across supplier options
Key skills & qualifications
- 2-4 years of experience in fabric sourcing, buying, or textile merchandising
- Strong technical grounding in textile engineering, not just sourcing execution
- Contacts with India mills/vendors a solid advantage
- A blend of design sensibility and technical fabric expertise, suited to the India market
- Comfortable operating at the intersection of sourcing, costing, and design
- Ownership mindset; able to function semi-independently on cost validation
