Job Description: A Foundry Plant Fitter specializes in installing, troubleshooting, and repairing heavy-duty mechanical equipment specific to casting operations. They minimize equipment downtime by performing both preventive and breakdown maintenance on high-heat machinery like induction furnaces, molding lines, and sand plants, ensuring protected and continuous plant production. - Preventive Maintenance (PM): Conduct scheduled inspections, lubrications, and part replacements on foundry machinery to prevent production bottlenecks. [1, 2, 3]
- Breakdown Resolution: Diagnose, disassemble, and repair heavy mechanical faults in machinery like sand mixers, shake-out systems, conveyors, and blowers. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
- Furnace Maintenance: Assist in the mechanical maintenance of induction furnaces, crucibles, and cooling water systems. [1, 2]
- Hydraulic & Pneumatic Systems: Inspect, service, and repair hydraulic presses, pneumatic cylinders, and air compressors that drive molding and casting equipment. [1, 2]
- Fabrication & Alignment: Cut, grind, and weld metal parts.



Ensure strict alignment of machine components, shafts, and gearboxes to prevent vibration and wear. [1, 2, 3]
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere to strict occupational health and safety standards. This includes managing the risks of working around molten metal, extreme heat, and heavy dust. [1, 2, 3]

Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: ITI (Industrial Training Institute) or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related trade.
- Experience: Typically 2–5+ years of hands-on experience in heavy manufacturing, casting, or steel foundry environments.
- Technical Skills: Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints. Proficiency with hand/power tools, measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers), and welding/cutting equipment.
