Job Description: A Ferro Alloys Chemist in a steel plant manages quality control by analyzing raw materials (ores, coal, coke) and finished products (silicomanganese, ferrochrome) using wet chemical analysis and instrumental techniques (XRF, AAS). They ensure production compliance, maintain laboratory equipment calibration, and provide data for process optimization. [1, 2, 3, 4] Key Responsibilities:

- Sample & Analysis: Collect and test samples of manganese ore, iron ore, coal, and coke for chemical composition (e.g., (Mn), (Si), (Fe), (Al_{2}O_{3}), (P), (S)).
- Quality Control: Perform daily quality control (QC) tests on raw materials and final products, ensuring adherence to ASTM or company standards.
- Instrumentation: Operate and maintain laboratory instruments such as X-ray Fluorescence (XRF), Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS), and moisture analyzers.
- Reporting:



Prepare daily/monthly reports and maintain documentation of test results, calibration logs, and chemical inventory.
- Process Improvement: Collaborate with production/furnace teams to troubleshoot process deviations based on lab analysis.
- Safety: Ensure strict adherence to lab safety protocols, 5S standards, and environmental regulations. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Required Qualifications & Skills:

- Education: B.Sc./M.Sc. in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry.
- Experience: 2–5 years in a ferro alloy or steel industry lab.
- Skills: Robust wet chemistry skills, proficiency in XRF/AAS, and technical report writing.
