Job Description: A Welder in refractory product manufacturing is responsible for fabricating and repairing metal components (molds, forms, frames, and machinery) used to create heat-resistant refractory products, working from technical documents and adhering to strict safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities

- Interpret technical documents: Read and understand blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to plan layouts and welding procedures.
- Fabricate and assemble: Cut, position, align, and fit components to produce forms, molds, and frames for castable refractory products, often using jigs or fixtures.
- Perform welding operations: Use various welding techniques (MIG and occasional stick/arc welding are common) in different positions (flat, vertical, or overhead).
- Operate equipment: Safely operate welding machines, hand and power tools (grinders, saws, torches), and material handling equipment like forklifts or overhead cranes.
- Inspect and test welds: Check completed welds for quality, accuracy, and flaws to ensure they meet required specifications and industry standards (e.g., ISO 5817, AWS).
- Maintain equipment and work area: Perform minor maintenance on welding equipment and keep the work area clean and organized in compliance with safety standards.
- Collaborate with teams: Work with fabricators, engineers, and other personnel to ensure projects are completed on time and to the required specifications.
- Adhere to safety protocols:



Diligently follow all safety regulations and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves, face shields, and safety shoes.

Required Skills and Qualifications
- Education/Certification: A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required. Certification from a recognized welding program (e.g., American Welding Society (AWS)) is highly desirable.
- Experience: Proven experience as a welder/fabricator, particularly with MIG and/or stick welding, is often necessary.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in various welding techniques and equipment operation.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols.
- Strong math and measurement skills (using calipers, rulers, gauges, etc.).
- Knowledge of metal properties and fabrication processes.

- Physical Demands:

- Physical strength and stamina to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs. or more) and stand for long periods.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and a steady hand for precision work.
- Ability to work in various physical positions and environments, sometimes in confined spaces or at heights.

- Soft Skills: Robust attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
