Job Description: A Senior Electrician at a scrap processing company is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of heavy-duty industrial electrical equipment used in processing, shredding, and sorting scrap metal or electronics. They ensure the uninterrupted, safe operation of high-voltage systems and heavy machinery to minimize downtime in a fast-paced setting. Key Responsibilities

- Preventive Maintenance & Repair: Perform routine inspections and emergency repairs on 3-phase circuits, AC/DC motors, generators, control panels, transformers, and PLC systems.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain specialized recycling equipment, including shredders, conveyor belts, magnetic separators, furnaces, and overhead cranes.
- Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Rapidly diagnose and repair electrical faults, including failures in 33kV substations, switchgears, and motor starters.
- Installation: Install, test, and commission new electrical infrastructure, including conduits, wiring, and high-voltage panels.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), National Electrical Code (NEC), and fire safety procedures.
- Supervision: Lead,



mentor, and train junior electricians and technicians.
- Documentation: Maintain meticulous logs of repairs, inspections, and spare parts inventory.

Required Qualifications
- Education: ITI (NCVT/SCVT) in Electrician Trade, or a Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience: 5–10+ years of industrial electrical maintenance experience, specifically with heavy machinery.
- Licensing: Journeyman or Master Electrician license is often required.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), PLC troubleshooting, high-voltage systems, and electrical schematics.

Working Conditions
- Environment: Industrial scrap yard or waste processing plant, likely dusty and loud.
- Physical: Ability to climb ladders, work in high-temperature areas, and lift heavy equipment.
- Schedule: Often requires working in shifts, weekends, or being on-call to address urgent production stops.
