Scientific Manager - Fermentation (Upstream)

*Location: Bangalore

*Position: Full Time

*Education and Experience: Ph.D. with 6+ years or M.Sc./M.Tech with 12+ years of industry experience in Biotechnology/Microbiology or related fields. Robust expertise in fermentation scale-up, process development, and managing cross-functional teams and external partners.

*Required Skills:

*Act as a team leader with senior-level competency in managing project schedules, ensuring milestone adherence, and enabling effective communication across diverse cross-functional teams.

*Align departmental priorities with broader organizational objectives to drive strategic execution and decision-making.

*Evaluate multiple technical and operational pathways to define optimal development and scale-up strategies.

*Advocate for the fermentation team by proactively identifying and removing execution barriers to enable productive delivery of project outcomes.

*Lead upstream fermentation process development including media optimization,



feeding strategy design, induction control, and productivity enhancement

*Drive process scale-up from laboratory to pilot and commercial manufacturing using sound engineering principles including oxygen transfer, mixing, heat removal, and morphology management.

*Develop representative scale-down models to troubleshoot manufacturing challenges and improve process robustness.

*Collaborate closely with MSAT teams to enable seamless technology transfer, including preparation of process descriptions, control strategies, and manufacturing documentation.

*Provide manufacturing support during engineering runs, validation campaigns, and commercial production.

*Lead deviation investigations, root-cause analysis, and lifecycle process improvement initiatives.
