Role & responsibilities

Maintenance Management
Assist the Mechanical HOD in managing daily mechanical maintenance activities of the MBF.
Plan, schedule, and monitor preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance.
Ensure optimum availability and reliability of mechanical equipment.
Coordinate shutdown planning and execution.
Analyze equipment failures and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Equipment Reliability
Monitor the performance of critical equipment, including:
Blast Furnace equipment
Charging system
Cast House equipment
Conveyors
Hydraulic systems
Pneumatic systems
Cooling water systems
Compressors
Pumps
Gearboxes
Crushers and screens
Dust extraction systems
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment life.

Team Leadership
Supervise engineers, supervisors, technicians, and contract manpower.
Allocate work effectively based on priorities.
Train and mentor maintenance personnel.
Monitor productivity and ensure quality of maintenance work.

Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with plant safety standards and statutory regulations.
Enforce Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Permit to Work (PTW),



and protected work practices.
Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments.
Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions.

Planning & Coordination
Coordinate with Production, Electrical, Instrumentation, and Stores departments.
Ensure timely availability of spare parts and maintenance materials.
Participate in annual maintenance budgeting.
Maintain maintenance schedules and shutdown plans.

Documentation & Reporting
Maintain maintenance records in CMMS/SAP or equivalent systems.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance reports.
Track equipment history and maintenance KPIs.
Prepare root cause analysis (RCA) reports for major breakdowns.

Preferred candidate profile

Education
Bachelor's Degree (B.E./B.Tech) or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience
B.E./B.Tech: 8 - 12 years of relevant experience in steel plants, preferably Mini Blast Furnace Mechanical.
Diploma: 12 - 15 years of relevant experience in mechanical maintenance of MBF or integrated steel plants.
