Role & responsibilities

Tool Manufacturing
Manufacture recent press tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges as per engineering drawings.
Assemble and fit die components with required tolerances.
Perform bench fitting, scraping, polishing, and precision assembly.

Die Maintenance
Carry out preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of all production dies.
Repair damaged punches, die blocks, guide pillars, guide bushes, stripper plates, and retainers.
Replace worn-out die components to ensure production continuity.
Improve die life through proper maintenance practices.

Troubleshooting
Analyze die failures such as:
Punch breakage
Burr generation
Misfeed
Strip jamming
Die alignment issues
Excessive tool wear
Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

Machine Operations

Operate tool room machines such as:
Surface Grinder
Cylindrical Grinder
Milling Machine
Lathe Machine
Radial Drill Machine
EDM Machine
Wire Cut Machine
Tool & Cutter Grinder
Hydraulic Press (for die assembly/trial)

Tool Trials




Conduct die trials before production release.
Verify dimensional accuracy of components.
Ensure smooth feeding and proper die functioning.
Coordinate with Production and Quality during trial runs.

Inspection & Quality
Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T;, and tooling layouts.
Use precision measuring instruments including:
Vernier Caliper
Micrometer
Height Gauge
Dial Indicator
Bore Gauge
Slip Gauges
Feeler Gauge
Ensure tooling meets specified tolerances.

Continuous Improvement
Suggest die modifications to improve productivity and reduce downtime.
Participate in Kaizen, TPM, Lean Manufacturing, and cost reduction initiatives.
Improve die life and reduce tooling cost.

Documentation
Maintain die history cards and maintenance records.
Record tool life, repairs, spare replacements, and breakdown analysis.
Maintain inventory of critical die spares.
