Job Summary

Iron Mountain is seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Engineering team . In this role, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of mechanical systems and products from concept through production while providing vital technical leadership and mentorship . You will join a agile, team-oriented team dedicated to driving innovation, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence across global projects.

What You ll Do

In this role, you will :
Responsibility 1: Lead the comprehensive design, development, and validation of mechanical components and assemblies by generating high-quality three-dimensional Computer-Aided Design models, manufacturing drawings, and bills of materials to deliver optimized engineering solutions .
Responsibility 2: Collaborate with manufacturing, electrical, automation, quality, sourcing, and project teams to optimize designs for production, facilitate root-cause analysis, and successfully coordinate cross-functional project execution .




Responsibility 3: Ensure compliance with organizational standards, safety regulations, engineering documentation practices, and industry standards such as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers or International Organization for Standardization .

What You ll Bring

The ideal candidate will have :
8 to 15 years of experience in mechanical design and product development .
Robust knowledge of advanced Computer-Aided Design software, engineering calculations, sheet metal fabrication, machining, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing .
Proven ability in technical leadership, problem-solving, tolerance stack-up analysis, and managing multiple complex engineering projects to tight deadlines .
A Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering field .
