Name of Position for hiring: Lab Assistant

Job Profile:

Assist in the day-to-day functioning and maintenance of all Forensic Science

laboratories.

Prepare laboratories for practical classes, workshops, training programs, and

examinations.

Handle, maintain, and calibrate forensic laboratory instruments and equipment.

Maintain stock registers, laboratory inventories, consumables, chemicals,

glassware, and evidence collection kits.

Ensure protected storage, handling, and disposal of chemicals and biological

materials in accordance with laboratory safety protocols.

Assist faculty members in practical sessions, research projects, consultancy

work, and forensic case demonstrations.

Maintain laboratory records, equipment logbooks, purchase records, and

documentation for accreditation and audits.

Coordinate procurement of laboratory consumables and ensure uninterrupted

laboratory operations.

Provide technical support during seminars, workshops, outreach activities, and

student training programs.

Reason for Vacancy:

The Department of Forensic Science has established multiple specialized laboratories,

including Forensic Biology Serology,



Forensic Chemistry Toxicology, Fingerprint

Questioned Documents, Crime Scene Investigation, Forensic Ballistics, and Forensic

Psychology. The increasing number of students, practical classes, research activities,

consultancy projects, workshops, and laboratory-based training has significantly

increased the technical workload.

At present, the department has only one laboratory support staff member, which is

insufficient to manage the expanding laboratory infrastructure and ensure smooth

functioning. Therefore, the appointment of a Scientific Assistant is essential to maintain

laboratory operations, ensure equipment maintenance, support academic and research

activities, and comply with laboratory safety and quality standards.

Qualification: M.Sc. Forensic Science/ Biology/ Chemistry/ Biotechnology
