What Youll Be Doing (position summary):

The Developer is responsible for leading the planning, technical design, development, and integration of complex, enterprise-scale applications. The role delivers easy, flexible, and personalized solutions that enhance the client experience, aligning technology initiatives with CIBC's vision and business goals. The incumbent provides technical leadership to the team, ensuring the successful delivery of high-impact projects.

How Youll Succeed (responsibilities):

Design and Development:

- Lead and coordinate complex application programming activities, ensuring high-quality and innovative technical solutions.
- Design technical infrastructure using relevant databases, programming languages, utilities, and testing approaches.
- Oversee the development and implementation of cost-effective, scalable, and maintainable applications.

Strategic Planning:

- Develop and maintain multi-year technology roadmaps that align with CIBCs vision, strategy, and business objectives.
- Lead multiple, complex projects involving backend systems, new technologies, and application enhancements.

Leadership and Team Development:

- Act as the development team lead, facilitating code-review sessions and ensuring project alignment with goals.
- Mentor and support intermediate and senior developers, fostering knowledge sharing, collaboration, and problem-solving within the team.

CROSS-FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

- Collaborates with business partners, project managers, and other technology teams to gather requirements, resolve issues, and ensure the successful delivery of projects.
- Works closely with QA, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure applications meet quality and compliance standards.
- Engages with external vendors and partners as needed for technology integration and support.

Experience: 5+ years of experience

Who You Are (skills/qualifications):

Must Have Skills:

- 5+ years experience in Microservices architecture, Java/J2EE, REST and gRPC APIs, Quarkus, Spring Boot, JSON , RDBMS/SQL, Docker/PodMan, Maven/Gradle, Postman, Junit, Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines, GIT, OpenAPI/Swagger, OAuth2/JWT.
- Solid client focus, goal orientation, relationship building, communication, collaboration, and passion for continuous learning.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Good to Have:

- Fluency in Object Oriented Design, structured Software Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC), and Agile environments is an asset.
- Banking Domain knowledge.
