About Unfair Advantage

Unfair Advantage is the team powering one of India's fastest-growing AI education ecosystems, reaching 150,000–200,000+ learners through programs like AI All-Rounder, Launch At Scale, and the AI Business Summit (70,000+ attendees). We're a lean, fast-moving team building at the intersection of AI, education, and business growth — and we're scaling our people function to match our growth.

Role Summary

We're looking for an HR Manager to own the full people function — from hiring top talent to building the systems, culture, and processes that let a fast-scaling team perform at its best. You'll work closely with leadership to shape how we attract, onboard, retain, and grow talent across a distributed, high-performance team.

Key Responsibilities

- Own end-to-end recruitment: sourcing, screening,

interviewing, and closing candidates across roles (marketing, ops, content, tech, sales)
- Design and manage onboarding processes so new hires ramp up rapid and feel set up for success
- Build and maintain HR policies, employee handbooks, and compliance documentation suited to a fast-growing startup
- Manage payroll coordination, attendance, leave tracking, and statutory compliance (PF, ESI, etc. where applicable)
- Drive performance management: goal-setting frameworks, review cycles, feedback systems
- Own employee engagement — culture initiatives, internal communication, and retention strategies
- Handle grievance redressal and act as a trusted point of contact for employee concerns
- Partner with leadership on org design, role definitions, and workforce planning as the company scales
- Track and report HR metrics (attrition, time-to-hire, engagement scores) to leadership

Requirements

- 2–5 years of experience in HR generalist or HR business partner roles, ideally in a startup or fast-paced environment
- Proven experience managing full-cycle recruitment, especially for non-traditional/creative/growth roles
- Strong understanding of Indian labor law and statutory compliance basics
- Excellent communication skills in English and Hindi (Bengali is a plus, given Kolkata base)
- Comfortable using HR tech tools (ATS platforms, HRMS, Google Workspace)
- High ownership mentality — able to build processes from scratch, not just follow existing ones
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust across a diverse, distributed team

Nice to Have

- Experience hiring for content, marketing, or ed-tech/consulting businesses
- Exposure to remote/distributed team management
- Familiarity with AI tools for HR workflows (screening, scheduling, JD generation)

What We Offer

- A chance to build the people function from the ground up at a high-growth AI education company
- Direct exposure to leadership and strategic decision-making
- Fast learning curve, real ownership, and visible impact
- Competitive salary (based on experience)
