Position: Senior Product Engineer — End-to-End Platform

About the product

Live SaaS platform for skilled photographers, in production. It spans five surfaces sharing one backend: a React web application, desktop applications for macOS and Windows (Electron), mobile apps for iOS and Android (Capacitor), and an AI face-matching service that automatically finds each event guest's photos. The platform handles live payments and stores customer photo libraries at scale.

The role

You will be the sole engineer responsible for the entire platform — development, releases, infrastructure, and quality. There is no team behind you: you take requirements from the founder and own everything from design to production deployment across all five surfaces.

Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain the Node.js/Express + MongoDB backend, including the Razorpay payment integration (subscriptions, webhooks, reconciliation)
- Develop and maintain the React web application
- Build, code-sign, and release the macOS and Windows desktop apps (Electron), including offline upload queueing for photographers working at venues
- Build and release the iOS and Android apps (Capacitor): App Store and Google Play release management, signing keys, framework/SDK upgrades to meet store requirements and deadlines
- Maintain and extend the Python/FastAPI face-recognition service and its matching pipeline
- Administer the production Linux server: hardening, backups, monitoring,



OS upgrades; manage S3-compatible object storage and presigned delivery at photo-library scale
- Establish and maintain automated testing and CI/CD for all of the above
- Own production security: access control, credential management, and remediation of findings
- Support data-protection compliance work (India DPDP) with the founder's legal counsel

Must-have experience

- 5+ years building and running production web applications end-to-end
- Node.js/Express + MongoDB in production, including a live payment-gateway integration you owned (Razorpay or equivalent)
- React in production
- Electron: shipped at least one desktop app to end users on both macOS and Windows, including code-signing and auto-update
- Mobile: shipped and maintained apps on both the App Store and Google Play, including signing/keystore management and at least one forced framework or target-SDK upgrade
- Python (FastAPI or similar) in production
- Linux server administration for a production system you were personally accountable for: backups, security hardening, incident response
- Setting up CI/CD and automated testing from scratch on an existing codebase
- Comfortable as a solo owner: no QA, no DevOps team, no senior to escalate to

Nice to have

- Face recognition / computer-vision pipelines in production
- Media-heavy platforms (large file upload/processing/delivery)
- India DPDP or GDPR compliance implementation
