Apollo Tyres Ltd is an international tyre manufacturer and the leading tyre brand in India The company has multiple manufacturing units in India and a unit each in The Netherlands and Hungary The company markets its products under its two global brands - Apollo and Vredestein and its products are available in over 100 countries through a vast network of branded exclusive and multi-product outlets Job Title Manager - Sustainability R D Location Chennai R D Reports to Position Lehani Verwey Department Function Main Responsibilities Job Summary Primary deliverables of role and its scope 1 Develop and implement sustainability strategies within the R D function aligning with the company s overall sustainability goals and the industry s best practices 2 Identify and develop sustainable product innovations including low-rolling-resistance tires lightweight tires and tires with improved durability and recyclability 3 Conduct Life Cycle Assessments LCA and Environmental Product Declarations EPDs for current tire products and materials 4 Collaborate with cross-functional teams e g Product Groups Compounding manufacturing and procurement to integrate sustainability considerations into product development and commercialization 5 Stay abreast of emerging sustainability trends regulations and technologies relevant to the tire industry 6 Engage with external stakeholders such as industry associations Suppliers and academic institutions to foster collaboration and research Projects 7 Support the development and implementation of sustainability reporting and communication strategies 8 Support the sustainability certifications and audits in R D and plants Knowledge Technical Functional Experience in the tire industry or a related manufacturing sector Knowledge of ISO 14040 44 LCA standards Experience with sustainability reporting frameworks such as GRI or SASD Skills Analytical skills IT skills Team player Co-ordination skills Qualifications MSc Chemistry B Tech in Rubber Technology Polymer Technology environmental science Chemical Engineering Sustainability or PhD in a related field Experience 3 to 5 years of experience in sustainability environmental management or a related field
