JOB DESCRIBTION A Scrub Nurse also known as a Perioperative Nurse or Theatre Nurse is a vital member of the surgical team who works directly with the surgeon within the sterile field Their primary role is to assist during surgical procedures by preparing the operating room managing surgical instruments and ensuring a sterile environment Scrub nurses play a critical part in maintaining patient safety and supporting successful surgical outcomes Role Serve as a sterile team member during surgery Act as the primary assistant to the surgeon Maintain aseptic technique throughout the procedure Collaborate with other surgical team members surgeon anesthetist circulating nurse etc Ensure that surgical instruments and supplies are ready and functional Responsibilities Preoperative Duties Prepare and arrange surgical instruments and equipment Check that all supplies are sterile and functional Set up the operating room according to the specific procedure Assist in patient preparation and draping Intraoperative Duties Hand instruments and materials to the surgeon during surgery Maintain the sterile field and monitor for breaks in sterility Count sponges instruments and needles before and after surgery Anticipate surgeon s needs during the procedure Postoperative Duties Assist in the safe transfer of the patient from the operating table Account for all instruments and materials used Help clean and restock the operating room Document surgical details and any anomalies Job Types Full time Permanent
