The Warehouse Assistant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the warehouse by ensuring the accurate receipt, storage, identification, handling, picking, packing and dispatch of materials and products.

The role requires maintaining proper inventory records, ensuring warehouse cleanliness and safety, supporting stock verification activities, and coordinating with the Warehouse, Purchase, Sales, Accounts and Logistics teams to ensure smooth material movement.

The ideal candidate should be physically fit, organized, responsible, detail-oriented and willing to work in a fast-paced warehouse workplace.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Receiving & Unloading

- Receive materials, products and equipment delivered to the warehouse.
- Assist in unloading and safely moving materials to designated storage areas.
- Verify received quantities against invoices, delivery challans, purchase orders or other relevant documents.
- Check materials for visible damage, shortages or discrepancies.
- Immediately report damaged, missing or incorrect materials to the Warehouse Supervisor.
- Ensure received materials are properly identified and tagged before storage.

B. Storage & Material Handling

- Arrange materials systematically in their designated locations.
- Follow the warehouse's storage and stacking procedures.
- Ensure proper labeling and identification of materials.
- Maintain proper segregation of different product categories and materials.
- Handle products carefully to prevent damage, breakage or loss.
- Follow appropriate FIFO/FEFO practices wherever applicable.
- Ensure aisles, emergency exits and movement areas remain clear.

C. Picking & Packing

- Pick materials accurately against approved material requisitions, sales orders or dispatch instructions.
- Verify product codes, descriptions and quantities before dispatch.
- Pack materials securely according to their nature and handling requirements.
- Assist in preparing materials for delivery or dispatch.
- Ensure the correct materials are handed over to the logistics/delivery team.
- Support loading activities while following safe material-handling practices.

D. Inventory Management

- Assist in maintaining accurate physical stock.
- Update stock movement records as instructed.
- Conduct regular physical stock counting.
- Support monthly, periodic and annual stock verification.
- Identify and report stock shortages, excess stock, damaged goods or discrepancies.
- Assist in investigating differences between physical stock and system records.
- Maintain proper documentation for inward and outward movements.

E. Warehouse Documentation

- Maintain inward and outward material records.
- Assist with maintaining Goods Receipt Notes (GRN), delivery challans, stock transfer records and other warehouse documents.
- Ensure documents are properly filed and readily available when required.
- Coordinate with the concerned departments regarding pending documentation.
- Maintain accurate records of material movement.

F. Warehouse Cleanliness & Organization

- Maintain cleanliness and proper housekeeping within the warehouse.
- Ensure materials are stored in an organized and accessible manner.
- Follow 5S principles and maintain workplace discipline.
- Remove unnecessary packaging materials and waste from operational areas.
- Ensure products are protected from moisture, dust, heat and other potential sources of damage, wherever applicable.

G. Safety & Compliance

- Follow all warehouse safety procedures and company policies.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
- Follow safe lifting and material-handling practices.
- Report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment or potential hazards immediately.
- Ensure fire exits, emergency equipment and access routes remain unobstructed.




- Follow company procedures for handling electrical, electronic, energy-related or other specialized products, wherever applicable.
- Maintain discipline and professional conduct within the warehouse.

- Warehouse Supervisor / Manager
- Purchase Department
- Sales Department
- Accounts Department
- Logistics / Delivery Team
- Service / Operations Team
- Other departments as required

4. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONMinimum Qualification

- SSLC / Plus Two / ITI / Diploma or equivalent/ Graduation in any discipline
- Candidates with relevant warehouse experience will be preferred.

Preferred Qualification

- Diploma/ITI in Logistics, Supply Chain, Electrical, Mechanical or a related field.
- Certification in warehouse, inventory or logistics operations will be an advantage.

5. EXPERIENCE Required Experience: 0–1 years

Freshers with a positive attitude and willingness to learn may be considered.

Experience with warehouse management software, ERP systems or inventory applications will be an advantage. 8. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES – DAILY ACTIVITIES The Warehouse Assistant may be expected to:

Start of Day

- Check warehouse readiness and housekeeping.
- Review pending inward/outward activities.
- Coordinate with the Warehouse Supervisor regarding daily priorities.

During Operations

- Receive and verify incoming materials.
- Arrange and label stock.
- Pick materials against approved requirements.
- Pack and prepare materials for dispatch.
- Update relevant records.
- Support stock counting.
- Coordinate with logistics/delivery personnel.

End of Day





- Verify pending material movements.
- Ensure materials are properly stored.
- Maintain warehouse cleanliness.
- Secure warehouse areas and materials.
- Report discrepancies or pending activities to the supervisor.

9. PHYSICAL & WORKING REQUIREMENTS The position involves an active warehouse environment and may require:

- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Handling and moving materials.
- Lifting materials within safe and permitted limits.
- Working in indoor and warehouse environments.
- Occasional support during loading and unloading activities.
- Following safety procedures while handling materials.

- Safeguarding materials under their assigned responsibility.
- Reporting stock discrepancies immediately.
- Reporting damaged materials immediately.
- Following authorized material movement procedures.
- Maintaining confidentiality of warehouse and company information.
- Not releasing materials without proper authorization/documentation.
- Following company policies, procedures and safety requirements.
