The Packaging Adaptation Artist is responsible for translating master design concepts into a wide range of product formats, sizes, and languages. You will ensure brand consistency across entire product portfolios while preparing technically flawless mechanical files for global print production. This role requires a "hawk-eye" for detail and a deep understanding of packaging substrates and print processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Design Rollouts: Adapt approved master creative across various SKUs, ensuring the design intent remains intact regardless of the packaging dimensions.
- Typography & Layout: Manage complex copy layouts, including multi-lingual translations, ingredient lists, and regulatory symbols.
- Technical Pre-flight: Prepare high-quality, print-ready mechanicals (die-lines) for litho, flexo, and gravure printing.
- Brand Stewardship: Maintain strict adherence to brand guidelines regarding color (Pantone/CMYK), iconography, and logo placement.
- Quality Control: Perform self-checks and peer reviews to eliminate errors in spelling, barcode functionality, and overprint/trapping settings.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Software Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign).
Experience with Esko tools is a major plus.
- Print Knowledge: Solid understanding of bleed, slug, ink limits, dot gain, and finishing effects (foils, spot UV, embossing).
- Precision: Ability to work with millimeter-level accuracy on complex die-lines.
- Project Management: Capability to manage multiple SKUs simultaneously under tight deadlines.
- Experience: 3+ years in a production-heavy design workplace or a packaging agency.
