JOB DESCRIPTION Designation Shift safety officer Job Location Mangaluru Department EHSS About Syngene Incorporated in 1993 Syngene International Ltd is an innovation-focused global discovery development and manufacturing organization providing integrated scientific services to the pharmaceutical biotechnology nutrition animal health consumer goods and specialty chemical industries around the world Syngene s clientele includes world leaders such as Bristol-Myers Squibb Baxter Amgen GSK Merck KGaA and Herbalife Its innovative culture is driven by the passion of its 4240- solid team of scientists who work with clients from around the world to solve their scientific problems improve R D productivity speed up time to market and lower the cost of innovation Job Purpose Experienced in the Safety department for API Pharmaceutical Manufacturing plant Educational Qualification B E B Tech in chemical engineering and Diploma in industrial safety from reputed institute Experience Minimum 3 to 5 years Technical skills Ensure adherence to safety practices and procedures for self and the team Contribute to the development of systems and practices that comply with company integrity and EHSS standards Drive a corporate culture that promotes environment health and safety EHS in the workplace Ensure safety compliance by following safety protocols and EHS requirements at all times Ensure timely completion of mandatory safety and data integrity training for all team members Uphold Syngene s quality standards in all operations Hold self and teams accountable for achieving safety goals Review and track safety metrics periodically Assist with Emergency Management System and Contractor Management Strengthen the Site Emergency Response Team ERT Organize and coordinate practical demos and training for firefighting equipment for ERT members Provide training on Emergency and Disaster Management to employees ensuring compliance Issue Work Permits for non-routine activities and ensure compliance with PTW conditions Participate in internal audits related to PTW Revise Onsite Emergency Response Plan based on process changes and legal requirements Assist in incident investigations and develop Corrective and Preventive Actions CAPA Ensure compliance of Emergency Equipment Fire Detection Protection Eye Washers Emergency Cupboards across the site Coordinate and conduct Mock and Evacuation Drills and follow up on action items Update Operating Procedures Guidelines for Emergency Equipment as per site requirements Monitor and ensure compliance of Fire Hydrant Pump House operations Ensure ERT availability and Fire Hydrant Operator presence during shift operations Conduct gap analysis in Emergency Management and take necessary corrective actions Assist in KAVACH implementation initiatives at the site Deliver PEP Talks and Toolbox Talks TBT to the production team during shift operations Issue and monitor Work Permits to ensure strict adherence to conditions Identify unsafe acts conditions report incidents accidents first aid and support investigations Monitor critical activities in the Production and Warehouse areas advising and training the teams on safety Ensure compliance with Personal Protective Equipment PPE during operations Support Shift In-charge Incident Controller in emergency situations during shift operations Assist in organizing campaigns competitions and activities to engage employees in maintaining safe working conditions
