Hyper Quest is a popular media brand and YouTube channel exploring curiosity and life through science and philosophy - consciousness,

the cosmos, and deep existential ideas.

What sets the channel apart is craft: hard ideas made legible and beautiful through narration,

animation, and edit working as one. This role is where you learn to cut at that standard. Role Overview

As Video Editor, you'll cut Hyper Quest's long-form and short form videos and podcasts assembling narration, motion graphics, stock footage, and references into a paced, honest, retention-holding watch. You'll work under the Sr.

Editor and alongside the storyboard, animation,

and sound teams, learning to tighten a conversation without flattening it and to never let a cut make an idea sound more certain than the research says. If you also know your way around motion graphics or basic animation, even better it means you can support the animation team directly and grow faster into a fuller craft role. Key Responsibilities

Edit long-form/ Short-form, YouTube videos, cutting in the animation team's motion graphics at the standard they were built to.

Edit podcast episodes, tightening pace while keeping conversations natural.

Assemble animation, stock footage, references, and narration into one coherent cut.

Remove dead air and improve pacing and retention.

Preserve the original meaning and confidence register of every conversation — never let an edit make a claim sound more settled than it was.

Identify strong, self-contained moments for Shorts.





Deliver every edit on schedule through the Production Manager's pipeline.

Coordinate with the storyboard, sound, and animation teams flag unclear hand-offs instead of guessing past them.

If skilled in motion design: assist with basic motion-graphics touch-ups, titles, or simple animated elements alongside the edit. Requirements

1 – 2 years of experience editing video long-form, podcasts, or YouTube content.

A positive sense of pacing, rhythm, and when a cut drags.

Working knowledge of Premiere Pro (or equivalent) and a genuinely organized edit workflow.

Comfort assembling a cut from someone else's storyboard and someone else's animation — not just your own raw footage.

Reliability under real production deadlines.

A plus, not a requirement: basic motion design or After Effects skills - titles, simple animated elements, or light motion-graphics work. Candidates with this will be considered for a broader role and faster growth.

Nice to have: interest in science, philosophy, or the channel's subject matter. What You'll Gain
