Role & responsibilities
- Design and develop press tools, machining fixtures, jigs, welding fixtures, and testing fixtures for complex aerospace sheet-metal and machined components, including drafting, trials, validation, maintenance, and revalidation.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely manufacturing and availability of tools and fixtures, analyze dimensional reports, and take decisions on acceptance, modification, or rework.
- Drive process optimization, low-cost automation, and cutting-edge tooling solutions across machining, fabrication, welding, heat treatment, and surface treatment processes to achieve QCD excellence.
- Support new capability development for aerospace alloys such as Aluminium, Stainless Steel, Titanium, and Inconel, while contributing to NPD, part pricing, and strategic manufacturing initiatives.
- Engage with customers and cross-functional teams to understand technical requirements, provide engineering support, and ensure tooling solutions meet quality, performance, and delivery expectations.
- Develop and maintain tooling databases, tool history records, design standards, and technology parameters in line with aerospace requirements and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead capability development and knowledge sharing within the Tool Design function while promoting innovation, safety,
quality, digitization, sustainability, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO 9000, EMS, OHSAS/ISO 45001, ISMS, customer-specific requirements, information security, confidentiality, and energy/environmental sustainability standards.
Preferred candidate profile
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical/Production Engineering is essential; additional qualification in Indo-German Tool Design or NDTF is preferred.
- Strong conceptualization, interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Extensive knowledge of aerospace component manufacturing processes, tooling methodologies, and production requirements.
- Thorough understanding of GD&T; and its application in aerospace tooling and component development.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Creo, and CATIA, with strong surfacing knowledge relevant to press tool design.
- Working knowledge of tool simulation and analysis software such as ANSYS, PAMSTAMP, and AUTOFORM is preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience for Engineering Degree holders and 12 years for Diploma holders, preferably in aerospace/tool design and manufacturing environments.
